Farew ells to staff for Term 3 This week we farewell Mr Ryan Thomas our Science teacher, who is leaving to teach in Tasmania. I would like to thank Mr Thomas for his work with our students over the last 18 months in the Science and the Arts/ Music learning areas. Mrs Todd is leaving us to have a well deserved rest before the arrival of her baby. W e wish her the very best and thank her for her work with some of our students who require Education assistant support. Welcome to New staff. Mr Chad Barnes will be taking over the Science Program in week 5. Please welcome him to Bluff Point Primary School. Indonesian Day of Celebration Last Friday, at assembly, a number of students from classes across the school performed the Monkey dance and an Indonesian Lullaby dance at assembly. Thanks to Ibu Tiahna for working with our students. Ibu Cindy performed a traditional Indonesian sitting dance and our students were involved in a number of activities that the Indonesian People do on Indonesian Independence Day. These activities included sarong soccer, Batik, basket making and learning traditional dance. Thank you to all staff who helped out and supported the day.

Cross Country and Jumps and Throw Events Fantastic days were held for both events. Students were well supported by parents and a number of our students did well, earning points for their faction. Thanks to Mr Robinson and staff for their organisation in ensuring the days ran smoothly. Save the Orang-utan Incursion Mr Bill W aterer of the Australian Orangutan Project, entertained students on Tuesday with information and pictures about the plight of the orang-utans and how we can work together to make a difference to these animals before they are extinct. Our students learnt about We are looking at holding an orang-utan day where all students wear orange and merchandise will be available for sale. All money raised will go towards the orphanages that support the orang-utans. Book Week Parade Around the World Theme Students are encouraged to come dressed up in your favourite book character from around the world or dress up in the traditional dress of the country they are learning about in their classroom. Prizes for the best dressed. The parade starts at 9am. Book Parade assembly on Friday 2nd September at 9am. We hope to see you there. After the parade Miss Day and Mrs McKenna will be running a Reading workshop from 9:30-10:30am for all parents in the library. The workshop will focus on home reading strategies parents can use when reading with their children. Parents will also have the opportunity to view our selection of childrens books for borrowing. If you are able to attend, please leave your name with front office staff. Toddlers can be accommodated and morning tea will be provided. Fathers Day Stall The P&C will be running a Fathers Day stall next W ednesday 31st August, where students can purchase fantastic presents for their Dads. Prices range from $1 - $10. Items to purchase include stubby holders, key rings, photo frames and many more items. Please support the P&C by encouraging your children to purchase from the stall to thank their Dad on Fathers Day.

Constable Care Incursion On Monday students from Kindergarten to Year 7 were visited by Constable Care. The theme for the excursion was Bullying and the impact and consequences of bullying. Through a puppet show students were shown strategies for dealing with bullying

COLES SPORTS FOR SCHOOLS We are collecting the Coles Sports for schools vouchers again this year. Please support the school in earning points to collect some great sports equipment for students to use at recess and lunch time. The collection box is in the front office. WOOLWORTHS SHOPPING DOCKETS We are also collecting vouchers from Woolworths to purchase learning resources from Educational Resources. Please send your vouchers to the school. The collection box is in the front office. Dont forget to ask for your vouchers when you go shopping. MIDWEST SCIENCE FAIR On the 18 of August Mr Thomas took a group of year seven students to participate in the inaugural Mid-West Science Fair at Waggrakine Primary School. The students were Brayden Walters, Korey Weaver, Lily Herring, Olivia Danti, Lou-Lou-In Aman and Whitney Jane. These students represented the school admirably and helped the year three and four students of Waggrakine learn that some fabrics are safer than others in a fire situation. Mr Thomas would like to thank these students for their great work and for behaving responsibly with a potentially dangerous experiment.

Our year 7 students will be holding a sausage sizzle and window was on Saturday 3rd September at Getaway Outdoors between 9am to 2pm. Please come along support our Year 7 students. The Fathers Day raffle will be drawn at this event.

Year 7 Fundraising

Eagles Cup The Eagles cup team have been show casing their skills against Rangeway, Geraldton and W aggrakine Primary schools. The students have put in a spirited effort each game and are demonstrating great sportsmanship. W e have one game left against Allendale Primary school on Monday 29th August at Allendale P.S. Please come along and support your team.
