Big Rock Techniques
技
The uke grabs the right sleeve with their left hand.
Ganseki Nage (巌石投) “Big Rock Throw”: Shift your weight onto
your left foot. Turn your hips to fling the uke forward and out.
Ganseki Ori (巌石折) “Big Rock Break”: Shift your weight onto your
left foot and violently turn to snap the elbow.
Ganseki Otoshi (巌石落) “Big Rock Drop”: Shift your weight slightly
onto your left foot and bring your hands together to prepare for a
zenpo nagare. Perform zenpo nagare driving the uke’s head into the
ground.
Ganseki Osae (巌石押) Big Rock Push: Use your free left hand to
cover any potential attacks. Perform yoko aruki stepping to your right
– driving the uke’s balance their right. On completion of the yoko
aruki, your hips should be underneath theirs, and your right foot
should be just outside their right foot. Turn your hips to throw the
uke over your back in a similar fashion to a seoinage/koshinage.

Hip Techniques
The uke and tori grab each other in kumiuchi.
Step to the inside of the uke’s right foot with your left foot as you
begin to pull on the uke’s right sleeve up and forward. Step behind
your right foot with your left foot, dropping your hips low, and reach
around the uke’s waist with your right hand and press them into your
right hip.
Koshi Nage (腰投) “Hip Throw”: Square your feet rotating counter-
clockwise and allow the uke to roll over your hip.
Harai Goshi (拂腰) “Sweep Hip”: Square your feet rotating counter-
clockwise and allow the uke to begin to roll over your hip. With your
right leg, hook backwards through the right side of the uke’s hip to
cause them to rotate over your leg.
Uchi Mata Uchi Gake (内股内掛) “Inner Thigh Inside Hook”: Kick up
and back with your right foot hooking the inside of the uke’s left leg
as you rotate and push them over their pinky toe to throw.
Hane Goshi Nage (跳腰投) “Jump Hip Throw”: Square your feet
rotating counter-clockwise and allow the uke to begin to roll over
your hip. With your right leg kick through the inside of the uke’s right
leg as you shoot your hips upward to throw the uke into the air.

Carry Techniques
技
Ippon Seoi Nage (一本背負投) “One [Arm] Carry Throw”
Lift the uke’s right arm with your left as you enter similarly for
koshi nage. At the same time, let go with your right hand and scoop
underneath the uke’s left arm and grab their shoulder. Lift with your
legs, dip your shoulder while turning your hips, and nage the uke.
Lift the uke’s right arm with your left as you enter similarly for koshi nage.
At the same time, enter in a similar manner to koshinage while rotating
your arm inward and upward, bracing your right forearm underneath the
uke’s left arm. Lift with your legs, dip your shoulder while turning your hips,
and nage the uke.
Receive by falling back to your left and performing a right uke nagashi.
Immediately capture the uke’s right hand with your right hand and lift. Step in
with your left underneath the uke’s arm, rotating the hand upward. Place your left
shoulder underneath the uke’s right elbow. Pull the arm down, lift with your legs,
and rotate clockwise to nage the uke.

Great Outer Techniques
技
Uke grabs tori in kumiuchi.
Step with your left foot forward beyond the outside of uke’s right leg.
As you do this, use your right hand to push the uke’s left shoulder
while using your left hand to pull downward and in on the uke’s left
sleeve. This will cause the uke to turn and their shoulders to move
beyond their hips. How you finish determines the throw:
Osoto Gake (大外掛) “Big Outside Hook”: Plant your right foot to
the rear of the uke, squat low, and take the uke’s shoulders back and
throw them over your thigh. Alternatively, you may kneel on your left
knee prior to throwing.
Osoto Gari (大外刈) “Big Outside Mow”: With your right foot, swing
it up behind the uke, then back through the uke’s right leg to trip
them backwards in a spinning motion.
Osoto Nage (大外投) “Big Outside Throw”: Plant your right foot
on the leg or lower back of the uke. While pulling their shoulders
to their rear, kick violently backwards to cause the uke to rotate
backwards for the throw.
