Objectives
❑ Discuss developmental tasks and challenges
being experienced during adolescence
❑ Evaluate one’s development through the help of
significant people around him/her ( peers,
parents, siblings, friends, teachers, community
leaders)
❑ Identify ways that help one become capable and
responsible adolescent prepared for adult life
ADOLESCENCE
The ages during adolescence may be bracketed
as follows (Corpus et al. 2010):
❑ Early adolescence – ages around 10 to 13
❑ Middle adolescence – ages from 14 to 16
❑ Late adolescence – ages from 17 to 20
*early adolescence at 11 or 12,
and late adolescence at about
age 18(Feist and Rosenberg )
IDENTITY VS. ROLE CONFUSION
❑ Fifth psychosocial stage of development,
❑ 13 – 19 years old/teen age years – 20’s
❑ Develop sense of identity or confusion

physiological transitioning is
very pronounced at this stage.
