4. Motivation
The teacher will let the students identify the
different kinds of unintentional injury from the
word hunt below.

5. Presenting the new lesson

The words that you have identify are the common


injury that a person can get while doing any physical
activity or unintentionally happened while doing any
activity. Unintentional injuries can happen in school or
even outside the school.

Let me ask you. Can we all be first aiders? Why?


Yes, because all of us can be a first aider as
long as we know the basics as well as the
training of giving a first aid.

b. Lesson Proper

Aside from the words you have identified in the word


hunt a while ago, there are other injuries that can be
specified as an unintentional injuries.

Here are some:


 Fracture- a break or crack
bone.

 Dislocation- partial or
complete displacement of
the bones.

 Sprain- injury to the


ligaments of a bone due to
accidental tearing.
 Strain- due to overstretched
muscles.

 Heat exhaustion- loss of


salt and water in the body
due to high temperature.

 Food Poisoning- due to


consuming food or drink
that is contaminated with
bacteria or viruses.

 Choking- an object blocks


the throat.

 Drowning- when air cannot


get into the lungs because
of water.

 Heart Attack- caused by a


sudden obstruction of blood
supply to the part of the
heart muscles.

 Burns- due to domestic


incidents such as touching
hot things/ surface.

 Stroke- blood supply to a


part of the brain is suddenly
and seriously impaired by
blood clot.

From the given unintentional injuries, which were you


confident in giving first aid? Why do you say so?
I think the burns, because you only need to
flood a cold water into it that can be found in
the house or in the school.

Dislocation, because it needs to have
considerations first before making an action.
Maybe the method we use can get the injury
be worsened.
Alright. Though all of them are difficult to handle and (students share ideas)
to give first aid if you do not know what to do. Always
remember that before giving any method of first aid,
we need first to survey and assess the situation
especially of the victim to properly address the proper
first aid for the injury.

The class will be divided into 4-5 groups. Each group
will be given a kind of unintentional injury. They will
demonstrate the proper way of first aiding in the
assigned injury to them and explain what and why
they do that kind of first aid.

Group 2- Sprain/ Strain
Group 3- Burn
Group 4- Heat Exhaustion
Group 5- Food Poisoning
