DESCRIBING THE COVERAGE AND THE COMPONENTS OF THE NSTP

I. Course Outcome : CO1: Describe the basic provision of the NSTP Program and
its main objectives.
I. Learning Outcome/s : LO1.1. Describe the coverage of NSTP and its 3
components.
II. Time Frame : 3.0 Hours
III. Introduction/Outline : In this session, you will be asked to describe the
coverage of the NSTP and its three components and share
their insights on how to work productively in groups in
corresponds to the program of the NSTP.

Below are the key concepts for reading. Details of these

concepts are discussed further in the workbook.

National Service Training Program (NSTP) is a program aimed at enhancing civic

consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by developing the ethics of service and
patriotism while undergoing training in any of its three program components specifically
designed to enhance the youth’s active contribution to the general welfare.
The Three Program Components of the NSTP

1. The Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) is designed to provide military training
to tertiary level students in order to motivate, train, organize, and mobilize them for
national defense preparedness.

2. The Literacy Training Service (LTS) is designed to train the students to teach literacy
and numeracy skills to school children, out-of-school youth and other segments of
society in need of their services.

3. The Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) refers to the activities contributory to the
general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of the community.

1. What is NSTP?

NSTP is a program aimed at enhancing civic consciousness and defense preparedness in

Nstp was enacted in response to public clamor for reforms in the Reserved Officers

Training Corps (ROTC)

Program.

3. What is the main goal of including NSTP in the college curriculum?

__The main goal of including NSTP in the college curriculum is to inculcate among

students the knowledge,values and skill in the nation building .

4. Enumerate the three program components of the NSTP and explain each one of them.

3. Civic Welfare Training Service ( CWTS ) refers to activities contributory to the

general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of the community. It also

refers to the enhancement of its facilities, especially those developed to improving health,

education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation, and moral of the citizenry

and other social welfare services.

The NSTP is a program that aims to increase young civic awareness and defense preparation by
instilling service and patriotism principles while undertaking training in any of the program’s
components. NSTP is good is privilege for the people because the government found a way for
us to be patriotic and love our home country more.
