BODY LANGUAGE
Body language conveys a message not
through words but through bodily actions.
These also refer to the unspoken part of
communication that we use to reveal our true
feelings and give our message more impact.
comprises gesture, stance, and facial
expression.
IMPORTANCE OF PRESENTING
STRONG AND POSITIVE BODY
LANGUAGE?

builds credibility
expresses your emotions; and
connects with your listeners.
It also helps your listeners focus more
intently on you and what you're saying.
POSTURES AND BODILY GESTURES THAT
INFLUENCE HOW YOUR LISTENERS
UNDERSTAND YOUR MESSAGE WHEN YOU
ARE SPEAKING.

Effective body language.

Gesture
Stance
Facial expression.
EFFECTIVE BODY
LANGUAGE

Support the message

and project a strong
image of the presenter
through body
movements.
GESTURES
Do use your hands. They
don't belong on your hips or
in your pockets or folded
across your chest either or
held behind your back.
Use them to help emphasize
a point, express emotion,
release tension, and to
engage your audience.
STANCE
The feet should point straight
ahead, not quite shoulder-
width apart. When not
gesturing, the hands should
sit quietly at the sides of the
presenter. Letting the hands
fall to the sides between
gestures projects ease.
FACIAL EXPRESSION
The movements of your eyes,
mouth and facial muscles can
build a connection with your
audience.
Eye focus is the most important
element in this process.
No part of your facial expression
is more important in
communicating sincerity and
credibility.
WHY ARE THESE
COMMUNICATION TOOLS
IMPORTANT?

We need to employ these three elements to

achieve two things in order to communicate
effectively:

1. Send clear, concise messages.

2. Clearly hear and comprehend messages that
are being sent to us.
