ending in y.

Knowledge: Use plural form of nouns ending in y.
(Ask: What is added to a noun ending in –s,-ss, -x, -ch, -sh, and –o?)
C. Establishing a purpose for the Say:
lesson There is another way of forming the plural of nouns and we will learn it this
afternoon. Do you know that not all nouns form the plural by only adding s and es.
So today, we will learn another way of forming the plural of nouns. In the activities,
which one will do? When you want to speak, are you going to shout? What kind of
voice will you use? Why?

How do they form their plural? ( by adding s and es)
(Answers are written on the board and appreciate the answers of the pupils)
E. Discussing new concepts and Look at the following pictures. Study the nouns below each picture.

Ask: In picture A, which of the nouns mean one? What are the ending letters of the
nouns? And what are the letters before y? What was added to make it plural?
In picture B, which of the nouns mean more than one? What are the ending letters
of the nouns? And what are the letters before y? What was added to make it plural?
(Appreciate the answers of the pupil)
Say: Let us study these pair of words.
Ask: What letter comes before the y in the words in the box A? (vowel letters)
What do we add to nouns ending in –y with a vowel before it?
Say: When nouns ending in y with a vowel before it form their plural by adding –s
only.
What letters come before y in the words in box B? (consonant letters)
How do we form the plural of nouns ending in y with a consonant before it?
Say: When nouns ending in y with a consonant before it form their plural by
changing -y to i and adding -es.
Group 1:
Give the plural forms of the noun and use it in a sentence.
1. Birds fly high in the sky.
2. I see mountains and valley anywhere in Palompon.
3. My duty is to serve our barangay.
4. Gomez family is generous to others.
5. I walk near the bay.
Group 2:
Look for the nouns ending in y in the puzzle and use it in a sentence. Select only 5
nouns given beside the puzzle.
(Rubrics in Group Activities will be used and praising the pupils in doing their task.)
G. Developing Mastery of the Say: We are going to work by pairs. Let’s talk about the pictures on the screen.
Lesson Choose a partner. Your partner will give the singular and the plural form of the
