GENERAL NOTES
1. MILL EXISTING PAVEMENT TO DESIGN DEPTH. THE EXTENT OF THE WORKS TO BE CONFIRMED PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION
WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT.
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT A PLAN DETAILING THE LAYING AND MILLING PATTERN OF NEW ASPHALT PAVEMENT
AND CORRECTOR LAYERS TO THE SUPERINTENDENT FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
3. MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE HORIZONTAL LENGTH OF STEP IS 250mm WHEN BENCHING INTO EXISTING PAVEMENTS. THE TOTAL
OF ALL THE BENCHED STEPS MUST BE LARGER THAN THE TOTAL NEW CONSTRUCTION DEPTH.
4. TACK COAT (C170) TO BE APPLIED BETWEEN VERTICAL FACES OF ADJOINING ASPHALT LAYERS AND JOINTS.
5. APPLICABLE SPECIFICATIONS AS PER TABLE: DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORT AND MAIN ROADS TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS.
6. CONTRACTOR TO MAINTAIN THE EXISTING KERB AND CHANNEL LEVEL AND THE EXISTING CROWN LEVEL.
7. WHERE THE INSITU SUBGRADE IS FOUND TO BE LESS THAN 15% (MRTS04), ADVICE AND
TREATMENT AREA
APPROVAL TO PROCEED SHOULD BE OBTAINED FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT. CHAINAGE TREATMENT TYPE AREA
8. ANY SOFT SPOTS IDENTIFIED DURING PROOF ROLLING OF THE UNDERLYING GRANULAR LAYERS WILL BE RECTIFIED BY
REMOVING 250mm OF THE SOFT MATERIAL AND REPLACING IT WITH PRINCIPAL SUPPLIED SAND AND OVERLAY WITH CH 000 - 294 PAVEMENT TYPE 2 3703 m² DESIGN SURFACE
WOVEN GEOTEXTILE FABRIC. THE REPLACEMENT EFFORT SHOULD EXTEND 500mm INTO THE SURROUNDING SUITABLE
MATERIAL. 50mm AC14H (A15E) ASPHALT SURFACING
9. PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF WORK, THE CONTRACTOR WILL VERIFY THE LINE MARKING AND CONFIRM QUANTITIES. THE
