REPORT ON THE RESULT AND IMPACT

BEST PRACTICES
SHOWCASING EFFECTIVE TEACHING TECHNIQUES
AUGUST 24, 2018
Rationale
It is the greatest goal of the Department of Education to impart with us the desired program development
for us to equip our competence, innovation and quality instruction to meet the standards and demands of the 21 st
Century learners. With great advocacy in education, we can create Filipino learners who can Communicate,
Critically Think, Collaborate and Create unique masterpieces of their own.

Indeed, as an advocate of K-12 Education we can now rediscover our chance to grow professionally
because with the new paradigm in education we can use effective teaching techniques suited to our different
types of learners in class. Their learning styles serve as our mirror in order to THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.
What just we need is being creative and performances to beat our targets because basically we know who our
learners are and their gaps performances in class.

To bridge the goal of this proposal to the teachers, the following were undertaken as primary concerns:

A. RESPONDENTS OF THE EFFECTIVE TEACHING STRATEGIES

The teachers of Bacolor Elementary School – Madapdap and tecahers from other
schools were the respondent and recipient of the effective teaching technique, and demonstration teaching.
Collaborated efforts among the teachers were orchestrated for the adaptation of the effective teaching
techniques and strategies.

B. LESSON, CONTENT AND STRATEGIES

The LESSON itself is stimulating and is comprised of the key objectives parallel to the
development of skills. Incorporating the multiple intelligences, cooperative learning styles and group based
activities is applied as according to the learning profile of the learners.

Games and Movement is a transformational part of the lesson to get the pupils participation and
involvement throughout the lesson discussion.
CONTENT is interrelated to other principles of learning, wherein the skill can be thematically
connected to other subjects with the use of appropriate instructional devices. The material used as springboard
is flexible in itself. It can be used in all forms of drills, vocabulary, spelling, reading and word
STRATEGIES used are the blueprint of the effective teaching. To obtain this, a teacher must consider
the following teaching practices in every lesson of the day.

1. Adaptation/ use of big story frames for visual effects and direct preparation for printed words,
meaning and ideas.

Pupils will grasp the contents and the skill once the materials aroused their visual imagination. From this
strategy, they can easily create an idea about how a certain lesson is all about. Simply this strategy awakens
the sound perception and the innate idea of the learner to respond to a certain topic or content word.

2. Use of Social Reinforcement as an Effective Teaching Strategy

Nothing is better that rewarding the pupils about how he performed his tasks. Social reinforcement are
those activities that are easy to do by the pupils. To make the teaching effective for a particular lesson, pre –
selected activities are readily available for answering such as the pupils come to school. These activities are
the skills connected to the previous topic taken. They serve as reinforcement to ignite the interest of the
children. likewise, this kind of strategy is encouraging the pupils to work independently on the following;

a. Reference Cards – are self-made cards with short description, lecture, and skill to be copied by the
pupils in their activity notebook. Instead of copying the so-common long notes from the book and
the blackboard, the content lesson is typed on a bond paper and placed in a filter or plastic case.
Each pupils is given a copy so that they are concentrated working quietly in a specific area they
prefer to stay in.

b. Activity Cards – are set of activities to be answered by the pupils. These are content lessons for
every reference card. They are classified into three; easy, average and challenger type of questions
about the lesson. Since children are of different learning profiles, and learning styles, each child can
perform an activity based on his strengths, capacity and level of interest. The fast learners tend to
choose the challenger type of activity while the slow ones will undertake the easy type of test. It is
best understood that pupils can only do a task if they are given an opportunity to work on
successfully and with all understanding of the lesson.

c. Rewards – to fully compensate the pupils’ efforts in the use of this strategy, teachers are continually
showing pupils how proud they are of good study habits. They need to learn how to give themselves
a pat on the back for a job well done.

To do this, have the pupils list ways they would like to reward themselves for good
school performance. Brainstorm ideas with the entire class, and assign pupils to come up with a top 10 list of
school task. Suggest that each pupil keeps the list in his performance or portfolio survival kit. When a lesson is
mastered scan the list for the perfect reward and does it. Here are the samples:

1. First to choose the group mates

2. Teacher’s aid in preparing the materials
3. Sit by a friend for the day
4. Free to choose an activity to be answered in the activity cards (easy, average, challenger)
5. Exempted for the evaluation test

C. MATERIALS AND RESOURCES for PERFORMANCE TASK

To motivate the pupils to participate in the discussion, big mounted materials and
instructional devices will be used. The following materials are to be presented;

1. Big story frames for the springboard and thematic connection

2. Vocabulary Locked Pas for unlocking of difficulty
3. Adaptation of Spin a wheel for follow – up activity
4. Incorporate Games and Movement (Celebrity Bluff, Spin a Wheel, BINGO Logo for examples etc.)
during the Motivation Part of the lesson and activities.
5. Activity cards and reference cards for evaluation and assessment.

Actual and concrete materials should be used for presentation in order to heighten
the effectiveness of the teaching strategy to the pupils such as, computer and head dress during story telling.

D. POST CONFERENCE WITH THE TEACHERS, PRINCIPALS AND DISTRICT SUPERVISOR

To put our heads together, the District Supervisor gave the idea to update our
agenda on the issues in our schools about SBM Best Teaching Practices after introducing the effective teaching
through demonstration teaching sample by the proponent. He made a focal point about the efforts to empower
an encouraging peaceful attitudes and behaviors to the teachers and to the children with whom we work in
school. With all the facets of Best Practices, we learned pedagogical strengths and some very valuable
information were exchanged throughout the post conference. He even stressed the effective teaching strategy
being introduced to the teachers shall be used for benchmarking, adaptation, implementation and evaluation
effective school year 2015 – 2016.

E. IMPLEMENTATION/ADOPTATION OF THE EFFECTIVE TEACHING

The effective teaching strategy has been found to be effective by the teachers during
the post conference and open forum. Clearing the cobwebs of present demand of effective teaching, the teachers
unanimously adapted and started to implement in the different grade levels and in other schools for the
improvement of the pupils’ performances in school and for motivating the school children to enjoy learning
with so much fun. Teachers were given instructions to value their feedbacks about how useful this strategy in
their teaching. Through supervisory assistance and monitoring of the Schools District Supervisor, the teaching
strategy will be observed during visitations and observations by simply looking at the most key components of
the introduces strategy in the following considerations.

REPORT ON THE EVALUATION/ MONITORING OF RESULTS AND IMPACT OF

EFFECTIVE TEACHING TECHNIQUES

Proponent of the Effective Strategy: JAY R. MIRANDA

Master Teacher I, District Arts Coordinator

School: BACOLOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – MADAPDAP

Rationale:

The Effective Teaching in the Classroom

Nothing is better than having a THINKING CLASSROOM where school children enjoy the
environment. Being organized and consistent with school work reflects the personality of a teacher whose hand
reaches out. This is what we call the Effective Teaching/strategies under the tutelage of the teacher. The
conditions in his daily routines and schedules, manner of preparing the tasks for the day and pedagogical
instruction have been found to be wanting as a classroom teacher.

In connection, the effective teaching strategy introduced by MR. JAY R. MIRANDA is a modification
for a new demand and a new transition of effective strategy. It is a strategy which emphasizes the amount of
time spent on performance tasks both by the teachers and pupils, and of work within the time given.
Observation and supervisory assistance on instruction is being monitored and evaluated as to the
implementation of Best Practices and effective teaching being introduces for classroom teaching. Teachers are
adapting and using the differentiated and suggested strategies introduced for classroom teaching. Teachers are
adapting and using the differentiated and suggested strategies introduced by the proponent of this strategy
following the evaluation/ assessment to wit.

1. Lesson, content, strategy

2. Approaches to social reinforcement
3. Reward system on performance tasks
4. Games and movement incorporation throughout the lesson
5. Use of reference and activity cards classified into three degrees of difficulty
6. Materials used
7. Portfolio

These components which are part of the successful and effective teaching are being observed by the
PSDS and school heads during classroom observation. To strengthen the effectiveness of the strategy,
teachers were observed and were given a post conference to update and share common experiences and
successes in the implementation of the strategy. Likewise this is one way to improve the performances
of pupils and the desire of the teachers to improve their competence as well. It is directly stipulated
through a memorandum that this effective teaching strategy will be implemented by all schools for
monitoring on SBM Practices. It was indeed found out that during the monitoring the strategy was used.
