1.1 Prelude
RMG (Ready Made Garment) is very important and helpful for our Bangladesh.
Bangladesh has emerged as a key player in RMG (Ready Made Garment) sector since 1978.
Textiles and clothing account for about 85% of total export earnings of Bangladesh. Out of
which, 75% comes from the apparel sector which covers the major products of knit and woven
shirts, blouses, trousers, skirts, shorts, jackets, sweaters, sports wears and many more casual and
fashion items. The sector currently employs approximately 1.5+ million workers, mostly females
from underprivileged social classes. I have completed this report on the basis of all the
department of RMG sector such as Merchandising Department, Commercial Department,
Production Department, Supply Chain Department, Human Resource Department, Compliance
Department, MIS Department, and relevant organization like BGMEA, BKMEA, Export
Promotion Buru, Yarn suppliers, Chittagong Port, Insurance Company, Shipping Company. So
by completing this report I get overall idea about RMG sector, so its carry more value than any
books.

CHAPTER TWO: METHODOLOGY
2.1 Selection of the Study Area:
I had concentrated on organizational departments such as Production, marketing and
merchandising, quality assurance, HR and admin section.
To learn and get idea about Production, I spend more times on production procedure of
Columbia garments ltd.
Closely time spend with production team to get the depth knowledge of production procedure.
To become the successful merchandiser, also try to learn the negotiation and sourcing
techniques, ethical issues, pricing and costing of the product.
The data collected for a purpose or when the researcher investigates a particular problem at hand
is known as primary data. I have collect the Primary information by what I am seeing in practical
in My Internship Period. What I did in practically. What was done by me for achieving my
objective.

The group started its journey by establishing an operating unit named Columbia Garments
Limited in the year1989. Later on, Columbia Garments Limited shifted to this present location in
the year 2001 and started its journey with a new dimension. Eventually with hard work,
dedication, commitment and quality work the factory earned handsome reputation in the
Garments Sector of Bangladesh.
