    SPORTS WRITING

    The Municipal Meet volleyball eliminations was held at Arayata Sports Complex,
    Tanza, Cavite on April 9 at 2 p.m. The Saint John School (SJS) defeated the Saint
    Mark Academy (SMA). With the scores of 25-19, 23-25, 25-20, 25-20.

    Despite the heavy rains and thunderstorms brought by Typhoon Maring, but the
    Aayata gym was filled to the rafter. The bloody battle is still on going.

    In the second set of the game, SMA’s Jin Rivas was sprained his ankle after a bad
    fall. He carried out of playing court and brought to Family General Hospital.

    “This is a good start as we are gunning for the championship like our basketball
    varsity posting a 6-0 winning streak”, coach Rody Santos said.

    SJS on 2-0 lead; routed Saint Joseph Institute (SJI) in the previous outing.

    “My boys are pumped up from their victory over the Saint Joseph Institute
    Tossers”, coach Rody Santos said.

    SMA came on strong in second set with Joseph Rom’s mounting strong wallops.
    Rom’s heroics aided by Dan Sibal’s ball on a service by SJS Richard Montes, in the
    second set also.

    In the last set, Jerome Arbis and Noli Cruz combined for 17 points to turned the
    net again. The crowd favorite, predominately SJS crowd chanting cheers for their
    favorite players.

    After the bloody battle against Saint Joseph Institute (SJI), SJS still rested the
    crown.
