WELCOME TO EFAX

Overview
eFax is an internet based, inbound and outbound fax service offering seamless operation with no
software or hardware requirements. It provides the benefits of email without losing the advantages of
conventional faxing.

Users are allocated a fax number on most exchanges in New Zealand and once loaded, the numbers
are immediately active for receiving faxes. They then have the ability to turn two jobs into one by
seamlessly communicating with both email and fax clients simultaneously.

Through the desktop email client, attached files are delivered to traditional fax machines and vice
versa. The solution can accommodate huge volumes of incoming faxes to one or more email
addresses and it doesn't tie up phone lines like an ordinary fax machine - the server takes care of it all.

eFax can fully integrate with custom built existing or new software with the use of an API. There is a
wide range of support for HTTP Post, SOAP, XML, among other variations. This allows for a whole
new dimension of automated messaging – directly from an accounting or CRM system, emergency
alert tool or marketing engine.

Sending faxes via email
eFax offers a fully functional email-to-fax service. Faxes can be sent with a cover page (using the
email body) or without. Both types requires specific parts:

To: [email protected]

From: Faxes must be sent from a registered email address for billing
and security purposes.

Subject/Reference: The subject line of the email which can be a personal

reference.

Fax Document: An attached PDF, document or image file with the fax data to
be sent. Multiple attachments will be sent as a single job with
multiple fax pages. Once the fax has been sent, the sender will
receive a confirmation report on the job’s results right back into
their email inbox.

Sending email to fax

Email to Fax is a simple way of sending electronic faxes via the internet. If your email address is
registered for sending faxes through eFax, you can simply:

1. Open your Email Client (e.g. Outlook)

2. “ To” needs to contain the fax number you are sending to ([email protected])
3. Attach the fax document(s) you wish to send.

Ensure you have formatted the “To” email address correctly.

Below is the default formatting of an email. It must begin with ‘0’ for national faxes or ‘00’ for
international faxes. If you have requested special formatting of the “To” field, your options may be
different.

To send a national fax: [Area Code][Fax Number]@eFax.spark.co.nz

displayed as:
[email protected]
To send an international fax: [Country Code][Area Code][Fax Number]@eFax.spark.co.nz
displayed as
[email protected]

Attached files/documents will be faxed in the order they were attached to the email. Your attached fax
document can be a range of formats, including:

Microsoft Office® documents doc, docx, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx, etc

Openoffice/Libreoffice documents odt, ods, etc

Adobe® Reader documents pdf, etc Image file types jpg, gif, tif, bmp, etc

...and more txt, html, etc

Delivering reports on fax jobs
After every fax transmission, eFax can optionally send an email report on the job’s results. This report
can include features such as:

1. Time and Date of the transmission

2. Fax Number that received the transmission
3. Delivery status and result (e.g. Success or Failed and why).

Each registered email address can have a range of Report options. You can request email Reports for
all jobs; Success or Failed. You can also request Reports on Failed jobs only. Or Reports can be
disabled all together.

If you’re using an API, reports can also be delivered over their chosen medium. Contact TNZ Group
for setup instructions specific to the client’s API.
