EVENTS
1) FINANCIAL TREASURE HUNT A blend of knowledge and skills so that students do not get bored with the common quizzes. As the name suggests, it would involve the movement of students from one location to the other simultaneously solving financial clues. There would be check points at various areas in the campus where the team would earn cash. At all check points, finance questions may be asked to the teams, the correct ansIr to which wins some cash prize. A clue placed at the checkpoint would lead the team to another location. The financial knowledge of students can be tested in this way in order to reduce the monotony of quizzes. NB: To make the event more interesting, different chits of various topics like stock, investment banking, etc may be placed at checkpoints the cash prize of whose ansIrs may vary accordingly. For instance QUESTION CATEGORY STOCK INVESTMENT BANKING CASH PRIZE(RS) 100 150
Resources: A few volunteers, paper, simple furniture (tables and chairs) for setting up stalls 2) STOCK MARKET According to the theme, I are planning to include transition in this event. It will approximately be a 4 hour event. The first half would include the method of stock exchange used in the medieval ages i.e. use of paperwork, while the second half would reflect the modern way of trading i.e. online trading. 3) RISK MANAGEMENT AND DECISION MAKING What s the best possible outcome/decision? Several events may be conducted: y Financial statements of a company may be shown to the teams. After a thorough study by the teams, they may be asked questions regarding raising of finance, mergers, acquisitions, etc by the judges. They would be given time to prepare themselves for their decisions.
A real financial crisis would be given to participants. They would have to come up with the best possible solution and prove that it is the best. They can challenge the other participants on their solutions too. It would be more like a debating round.
4) FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE (STRESS ROUND) An Audio-Visual round of finance related questions could be organized to test the financial knowledge of the students. It is much more better than the normal question ansIr event as several different rounds of quizzes may be conducted in the audio-visual event, examples of which include recognition of personality, question banks, etc. It is basically a quiz made better. Resources: A laptop and college AV ROOM
5) FOREX TRADING In the current business world, forex dealings have become a great aspect of earning profits. Exchange rates would be displayed to the participants at start. News will be flashed regarding the economic developments of the country and participants would be asked to trade in foreign currencies depending on their future expectations of currency rates. The participant would have to try and make profits out of the fluctuation in exchange rates. The one who makes the most money wins! 6) RECESSION Since recession is currently the major talk of the business world, an event could be brought up in regard to this aspect. Recession is directly connected to finance as it may affect the business funds and the business as a whole. Clear cut examples of businesses affected by recession may be cited and teams would be asked to tackle the problems as financial advisors. Judges would assess the teams. 7) BUSINESS PLAN WITH A TWIST It s not one of the common business plan competitions held throughout the world. The twist is that teams would be made known about the resources, the environment, funds, the climate, population etc around them, based on which they would have to come up with a best possible business plan. All teams would be given the same situation and availabilities, the team with the best business plan as decided by the judges wins it.
For instance- Make a business plan based on the following conditions -2000000 people -Istern culture -Cold climatic conditions, etc. -Enough conditions would be given to come up with a business plan.
