Test 1 Communication - Final
Test 1 Communication - Final
1. Students must ensure that IRIS is installed and working prior to their assessment sitting.
2. Students can download the Test 1 question paper and required from myExams to start
their assessment session. The question papers will be available for each module, at
the start of each module’s specified timeslot. Once they access their test (in a folder
on their module site) and open their assessment, the IRIS invigilation tool will activate.
3. Once IRIS is activated, the student must lift their laptop/computer camera to record the
material that is on, or close to, the desk.
4. Once the morning or afternoon session duration ends (see schedule below), students
have 30 minutes to scan and upload their (hand-written) answer scripts to myExams, or
the contingency link, should they experience technical problems. Student should note that
the IRIS invigilation tool does not accept answer scripts. Email or late submissions are
not allowed.
5. The IRIS invigilation tool is time-bound and only starts once students open their
assessment sites and stops when students’ answer script uploading time ends. Please
keep the schedule below as question papers will be available at the time in which they
have been allocated. You have been provided 15 minutes to download and activate IRIS
between sessions.
6. Once the answer script uploading time ends, IRIS invigilation results are automatically
uploaded when you click on the “finished recording”. Should students experience
technical challenges in uploading, they have 24 hours to ensure that their IRIS Invigilation
results are uploaded.
7. If you finish uploading your answer script and IRIS has not stopped recording, click on
“stop sharing” and then click on “finished recording”.
8. Students can utilise their SAICA handbook in responding to their examination questions.
Students must only access the permitted prescribed material as communicated in their
tutorial letters and as per examination instructions. Only SAICA handbook textbooks are
permitted. Students must refrain from accessing online resources as this will be monitored
and flagged by IRIS (see point 11).
9. Once the assessment sessions end, students must submit the scanned handwritten
answer scripts on myExams. You can either choose to upload at the end of the session
or immediately after your module allocated time has ended.
10. Students who are registered for one module only, have to upload their scanned
handwritten answer script immediately after the module allocated time has ended.
11. Students must note that the IRIS invigilation tool monitors the student’s computer/laptop
screen which includes browser/internet activity.
12. Students must ensure that their device is fully functional, and IRIS enabled, prior to their
examination sitting.
13. Students experiencing technical challenges should contact the SCSC on 080 000 1870
or 011 471 2433, or alternatively send their query on the discussion forum on the CTA
IRIS Practice site.
14. Students are however advised that queries that are beyond Unisa’s control include the
following:
15. Students who have been approved for extra time will receive a separate communication
on their mylife email account to provide them with guidance regarding the submission.
16. The test will consist of two sessions, the first session will start at 08h30 and the afternoon
session will start at 14h00. Please follow the schedule as IRIS will be activated for
invigilation per module when you download the paper for that specific module. The
schedule is as follows:
13:00 – 13:30 Upload all answer books for the first session
BREAK /
LUNCH 13:30 – 14:00
AFTERNOON 14:00 – 14:15 Question paper download and activation of IRIS
SESSION
14:15 – 14:30 Reading time
17. NB: You are encouraged to abide strictly to the time allocations for each module (15
minutes reading time & 1 hour writing time).
18. All students should submit their answer sheets on MyUnisa. Students who cannot access
MyExams for the question papers or to upload their answer sheets should use the
following link:
https://tinyurl.com/TESTS2023
Please ensure that your complete answer book is submitted for all modules and the
size of each submission is below 20MB.
20. Ensure that you have submitted each assessment under the correct module (the
attachment must match the module for which you are submitting).
21. IRIS will be monitoring you from the start of the reading time until the end of the writing
time. The final submission of your assessment must be made on myExams or the
contingency link, and these two platforms are the only valid submissions that will be
accepted by the university.
22. Students are reminded that their participation in the invigilation through IRIS is
compulsory. Failure to use the IRIS for the assessment will result in your script not
being marked.
23. The declaration is online, and you will need to self-declare. As part of the declaration, you
will need to type in the two separate words, “I AGREE” and this should be done for each
module submission.
24. The University takes unethical and dishonest behaviour of students very seriously. Such
behaviour tarnishes not only the reputation that Unisa has strived to uphold over its long
legacy, but also undermines the sincere efforts of other students who desist from such
practices. Student Disciplinary Hearings for plagiarism cases will be conducted and
corrective action taken for students who have been implicated with plagiarism. Some
students who have contravened the examination procedures/ who have plagiarised,
have been suspended from the course. Please ensure that you submit your own
work as per the Declaration.
25. Guidelines and a training manual for the IRIS has been posted on myExams CTA IRIS
PRACTICE SITE. Should you experience technical issues with IRIS please contact SCSC
on 080 000 1870 or 011 471 2433 for further assistance. The final submission of your
assessment will be on myExams or the contingency link, and these two platforms are
the only valid submissions that will be accepted by the university.
26. Online assessment guidelines have been posted on myUnisa. Please go through this
communication as it will assist you, when faced with an issue.
27. Students are once again reminded that NO late or emailed submissions will be
allowed.
Good luck with your preparation for test 1 on 28 March 2023. You are once again reminded to
make use of the support provided on myUnisa (recordings; practice questions; email support by
CTA lecturers).
Kind regards,
College Management
