Digitizer Manual Richpeace
Digitizer Manual Richpeace
Synopsis
Richpeace digitizer is a kind of computer input device with high property and low price,
it is suitable with application field such as CAD,digital design,GIS and so on. The
resolving rate is 2540 line/inch, the precision has two kinds these are 0.203mm and
0.127mm, it supports more than 30 kinds of standard data format, its order style is
compatible with the major same kind productions, it can connect with mutual mainstream
applications software that is in the market; the breadth is from A2 to A00; the cursor or
pen can be chosen as the tools of catching point, and can be compatible with the function
of mouse. The digital panel can be chosen photic or unphotic. You can also have the
special style calomp made by order.

(2) You should put the back control panel to be flat and press the hand shank till it gets
the locked position, and then turn the crank to hoist the beam as high as possible, so
that the digital panel can be easily installed.
(3) Two people carry the digitizer at a flat level, put it on the back control panel of beam
carefully, to make the back panel and the back control panel coincide with each other,
you should make the side of the digitizer frame with power switch opposite to the side
of the column of bracket with hand shank.
(4) Use the screw to fix the back panel and the back control panel with each other tightly
(as figure 6).
(5) When you install the tray and the pen box you should do your best to make the cursor
box close to the digital panel‟s frame, and keep about 3mm space and make sure not
to scratch the frame (as figure 7).
(6) Fix the bracket of the hand shank (as figure 8).
Annotate: ① when screw the hexagonal socket screw, you‟d better use the suitable
internal hexagon spanner or bulky flathead screwdriver to tighten the screw.
② don‟t drill on any place of the Richpeace digitizer‟s panel.
Installing digitizer
Close the computer, and make sure that the power switch of the digitizer is close (put
the switch at the „O‟place), and then you can start to connect the lines.

a. The data that is sent is the increment that is from the current point to the previous
point.
b. The cursor has four azimuths (or four quadrants, at illus the following) when it moves
from the current point to the other point, because the coordinate has symbol so this
working mode requires the output format of data that sent by digitizer to be the ASCII
format with sign bit.
[-, +] [+, +]
[-, -] [+, -]
c. If the increments of both of the x、y directions are zero then digitizer sends out no
coordinate. Only when cursor moves from the current point to augment X or Y
coordinate increment not to be less than 1 or when the key of cursor is pressed then
the data could be sent out.
Halt Mode
The digitizer can receive the order but cannot send out coordinate data until setup a
new working mode.
(2) Controlling the tone of key-press with menu
On the menu of the panel of digitizer, there is a block that can enable or
disable the tone of key-press. When the spider line on cursor aims at the center of the
block and press button „0‟ then the tone of key-press is turned off, if press the key
again the tone of key-press would be turned on again.
(3) Resetting Digitizer
Press the round key (also called it “reset switch”, the key with indicator light) with the
sign „Reset‟ on the main control box of digitizer and don‟t release the key, and then,
turn on the power supply of digitizer at the same time. Release the switch when the
ringing of buzzer is over, then, the digitizer would work as the original settings.
The original settings: 9600 baud rate, 8 bits non- verification, one stop bit,
resolution 1000LPI, output-format 23, stream mode, output-speed is 40 pairs
coordinates /second, original coordinate point is in the lower left corner.
9
10
Just operate B , E on the menu continuously then you can save the original
settings if you want to
Setting digitizer with menu
The menu of digitizer is at the upside of the center of panel. There are 11 blocks
altogether including one tone controlling block, one menu starting block B 8 numeral
blocks (from 0 to 7), one menu ending block E .

Controlling sound
① When you use the order: TN<CR>, a short tone is will sound when Digitizer received
an order or any cursor key is pressed.
② When you use the order: TF<CR>, whether Digitizer received an order or any cursor
key is pressed, the alarm will not sound in response to that.
Selecting base point location
Richpeace Digitizer has four base point locations of coordinate; they are located in lower
left, upper left, upper right, lower right of the active area.

Annotate:①LPI- indicates: ...Line/inch; LPmm- indicates: line/mm; SP is the blank symbol;
K is the key code; CR is the enter symbol; LF is the space symbol.
②In the format 4,5,7, the meaning of TMK is T=A
In different working mode M will be changed corresponding letter (as the following table)
Working Stream Point Line mode Switch Increment Delta
mode Mode mode mode mode mode
M R P L T I D
K is the code value
E.g. if the working mode is the point mode then the output format of coordinate is
changed to be APKXXXXXYYYYYCRLF
③ the meanings of KP in the format 6:
K is the code value; P is the state of pressing button, when the button of
cursor is pressed the P=D, when the button of cursor is not pressed P=U.
E.g. when the button is not pressed the output format of coordinate is
UUXXXXXYYYYYCRLF
The output format of coordinate is IDXXXXXYYYYYCRLF when the button „1‟is
pressed.
④ there is no blank between character except it is SP in the output format.

part of the character input window. You can use Richpeace order or Digitizer order. If you
input the character wrong you needn‟t to correct it, just input the whole of the correct order
once again. When the digitizer received a correct order you could hear a tone “di….”
(3) Setting baud rate and other parameter
Baud rate、parity check and data digit must be set in a certain order, otherwise the
digitizer can not receive correct order. The principal of setting is the baud rate、parity
check and data digit of digitizer must keep the same as the those of computer then it can
send out order to change the parameter of digitizer .
e.g. the digitizer serial port works in the state of 9600 baud rate and 8-bit none-parity
check, if you want to setup it to be 9600 baud rate and 7-bit even parity check you need to
select BAUDRATE as 9600, PARITY as NULL, DATABITS as 8 in RichpeaceTest program
interface, at this time key in „7E<CR>‟ then the setting is end. If you want to save your
setting you need to select BAUDRATE as 9600, PARITY as EVEN, DATABITS as 7, at this
time key in „SV<CR>‟ then the operation of saving the setting is end. Restart then the
digitizer works according to the saved parameter.

⑦ Whether after entering in main menu of digitizer and press B but don‟t press
E to return.
⑧ checking: serial port cable、cursor cable、cursor、connector , and make sure they are
in good condition.
⑨ press reset key and turn on the power, then release reset key till the sound of buzzer
is end. Start RichpeaceTest program and adjust serial port parameter then observe is
there any data or jumbled code in the window.
