Program Logic and Design Unit1: Introduction to Computer and Logic

Name: Sta.Rosa, Leimrei P. MODULE 1

Year & Section: BS CPE 1A-G2

LESSON 1
The Origin of Computers

PRE-TEST
Exercise 1.1.1
Computer literacy may have a big impact in our daily living. It give s certain
privilege in our daily activities. In our own perspective, we may provide the following
items a concrete answer based on what is existing in this era.

1. What is technology?
- From the module it states that it is the application of human ideas into systematic
and scientific knowledge to achieve certain purposes based from existing or future
problems and research.

- According to collins dictionary refers to methods, systems, and devices which are
the result of scientific knowledge being used for practical purposes.

2. When did you first experience computers? In what purpose?

- My first experience with a computer was when I was 6 years old the one that have
a big back, I used it to search for my assignment when I was in elementary, play
some games and watch my favorite cartoons.

3. What computer fundamentals do you know and understand at your level of

knowledge right now? Explain why.
- The computer fundamentals that I am familiar with and understand are  the history
of computers, the origin of computers, who invented the algorithm, the five
generations of computers, and the hardware and software. I also have some
programming experience in C. These are some of the fundamentals I am familiar
with.
4. In the near future, what kind of computer would you like to invent or integrate
to help the world. Explain why.
- Computer technology has made it possible for providers to offer more
personalized care by tailoring treatment plans to individual patients. As a result,
computer technology is playing an increasingly important role in health care and
is likely to have even more impact in the years to come. Because of that, I’d like
to create a computer that can help patients in the hospital or a computer that can

help to know the cure as soon as possible for the patients especially the children
who suffers from their sickeness.

ACTIVITY
Exercise 1.1.2
From the previous lesson, we learned that a little evolution in technology may
have a big impact for the future. For this activity:
1. Think of a technological product that you are familiar and look for its previous
versions or its references in function. Give 5 of its version/references.
Example (Touch screen mobile phone, mobile phones with keypad.)

PRODUCT:
A) PSone
B) Playstation 2
C) Playstation 3 / slim
D) Playstation 4
E) Playstation 5

2. What did you notice in comparing these technologies? (Refer to No.1)

- The consoles have different sizes, and the hardware used in them as
well as the graphics when we play have improved.

3. What is your idea in improving the product?

- In my opinion to improve the product make a product review for the

customers, and make another program that fixes the problem.

4. As a technological learner, how can this topic help you?

- It helps me to know what I can learn and improve when I make my
own set of technologies not for myself but also for the people around
me.

programming a NO any knowledge about programming
project?

Are you willing to learn Because I love to explore knowledge in

programming in the YES technology and I want to make my own
near future? gadgets and video games someday.

Do you consider I’m studying computer engineering to make
