I.

Objectives: To be able to apply the knowledge of the sources and uses of

light, sound, heat and electricity.
II. Subject Matter: Describe the different uses of light, sound, heat and electricity
in everyday life.
Content- Sources and Uses of Heat
Science Ideas:
 Heat is a form of energy. There are
two sources of heat, natural and
artificial heat.
 Natural heat are sun, fossil fuels,
coconut shells, husks and woods.
 Artificial sources of heat are candles,
matchsticks, lighter, and those that
produce friction. ex: rubbing of
hands, stones sticks and electricity.
Materials: pictures of the different sources of natural
and artificial heat

III. Developmental Activities: Song: Energy (Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb)
A. Pre- Activity: 1. Science Word Drill
heat sound energy
light sun electricity

2. Review:
Directions: Read the following
statements. Tell whether the statement is FACT if it is correct
and BLUFF if not.
1. Sound is very import to our life. It helps us know
what is happening around us.
2. Vibration is the movement of molecules of the
object that move back and forth.
3. The harder you tap the drum the louder the
sound.
4. Sounds only travel in air.
B. Motivation: Children what kind of weather do we have today?
What do you feel right now? You felt hot. How do you know it
is hot? What do you usually eat during this hot season?
(Video Presentation: about What is heat?)

Ask: What was the video presentation all about?

What is heat?
What is the importance of heat to your everyday
life?
Picture Presentation:
(Inside the house there is a boiling kettle, an oven, a stove,
bread toaster.

Ask: Look at the picture. Identify the object that are the
sources of heat.
Heat- is a form of energy which is transferred from
C. Discussion: an object with a higher temperature to that with a lower
temperature.
Temperature –the condition of hotness or coldness
felt when touching an object hot or warm objects are
considered to be with high temperature like boiling water,
while cold objects have low temperature like ice cream, ice
cubes and air condition room.
Thermometer – devised used to measure the
temperature of an object.
Where do heat come from? What are the different
sources of heat?
Sources of heat are classified into two types:
Natural and Artificial Sources
