Why is Hajj so Important?
Islam has five pillars and Hajj ـــــﺞ
ّ اﻟﺤ
َ is the last one. Hajj is
a call from Allah that we must do if we can at least once in
our life time. Hajj is held once a year during the month of
Dhul-Hijja ﺠﺔ ِ ُذو, which is the last month of the Islamic
اﻟﺤ ﱠ
calendar. Muslims from all over the world go to Makkah ﻤﻛـﱠﺔ
َ
in Saudi Arabia by airplanes, ships, busses, and cars.
Hajj means Pilgrimage which is like a trip, especially a long
one, made to a special place. This special place is the
Ka’abah اﻟ َﻛ ْﻌ َﺒﺔ. Men and women walk around the Ka’abah,
which is a brick building inside the largest mosque in Makkah.

Muslims do not worship the Ka’abah, we only go
there to walk around the Ka’abah as a sign of unity.
We worship Allah alone.
During Hajj, all the men have to wear two pieces of white
clothes called the Ihram ﺤــرامْ ِإ. Everyone will look the same
which shows that Allah does not judge us based on how we look.
The only thing that matters is if we are good Muslims or not
inside and if we act in the right way.
Ask Allah to help you and your
family to go to Hajj one day.
Do this du’aa every night if you can!
During Hajj, we remember the teachings of Prophet Ibrahim
ِ إِ ْﺒر, who lived thousands of years ago. Prophet Ibrahim
اﻫﯿــم
and his son Prophet Ismail ﻤﺎﻋﯿـل ِ إِﺴ are the ones who re-built
ْ
the Ka’abah after it was destroyed. It is a very simple brick house
but it is one of the most special places in the world today.
Muslims are allowed to visit the Ka’abah during other
times of the year, but the best time to go see the Ka’abah is
during Hajj. When you go to Hajj and if Allah accepts your
Hajj, then all your sins are forgiven. What an amazing

and once in the evening, everyday! It will show
that you remember Him and accept that He is
the Lord of this World.
