The first topic discussed was the stages of pregnancy. There are three stages: the germinal period from fertilization until 14 days when the zygote undergoes cell division and becomes a blastocyst made of many cells. The blastocyst has three parts - the ectoderm responsible for skin and nerves, mesoderm for muscles and bones, and endoderm for digestive and respiratory systems.

The first one is the STAGES DURING
PREGNANCY. Prenatal has 3 stages or phases, the first one is the Germinal Period. In this period, the so called “zygote” is formed. The zygote is the result of the fertilization when the egg and sperm cell unite. The germinal period only happens from the moment of fertilization of the egg until fourteen days. The zygote is considered as a single cell until it undergoes cell division within twenty-four hours and became two-celled and another cell division for thirty-six hours and another cell division for another hours. When it reached the 7th day, the single cell will be called the mass of cell because it became many cells due to multiple cell division that occurred. This mass of cell is called the blastocyst. This blastocyst has three parts; the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm. The ectoderm is the one that is responsible for the outer skin and nervous system of the baby. The mesoderm is the one responsible for the muscles and skeletal system; and endoderm for the digestive system and respiratory system.
