Adding Phrases as Adjectives


A phrase is a group of related words used as a single part of speech.
A phrase can act as an adjective to describe a noun.

EXAMPLE: She wore a blue barrette in her hair.


She wore a barrette of blue in her hair.
The phrase “of blue” is used as an adjective.

DIRECTIONS: Underline each phrase used as an adjective.


Circle the noun it modified.
