• Battery capacity conversion - Ah - C


○ 1 Coulomb = 1A x 1s
○ 1Ah = 3600 C
○ 1mAh = 3.6 C
• EV battery voltage - 250V - 600V
• Secondary battery cells are considered to have reached end of life when their capacity is 70% of
their nominal original capacity
• Li ion cells - nominal voltage is 3V
• C rate - relative measure of cell electrical current
○ Constant current charge or discharge rate the cell can sustain for one hour
○ Depends on the size of the cell
○ The C rate of a 20Ah cell is 20A
○ If a cell is discharged at 10C rate, it will be completely discharged in 6 min
• Nominal energy storage capacity (Wh) = Nominal voltage (V) * Nominal capacity (Ah)
• Energy release rate - cell's instantaneous power (mW, W, kW)
