Calendar

In this video you will learn how to use the Calendar to keep track
of important events and assignments. To learn more about this
topic, visit the Canvas Guides at guides.canvaslms.com.
Additionally, permissions vary between users and institutions, so
what you see in this video may be different from what you see in
Canvas.

Click the Calendar link in global navigation to get started. Here

you will see the Calendar Month with the events and assignments
for all your courses and groups. In the sidebar you will see the
mini Calendar and the Calendars for your courses and groups.
You can filter your Calendar by courses or groups by clicking the
color box next to the course or group name. You’ll also notice a
calendar with your name. This is your personal calendar, where
you can add events and reminders to help you stay on track. Note
that students can only add events and reminders to personal or
group calendars. Items added to your personal calendar will only
be seen by you. Change the view of the Calendar to Week,
Month, Agenda, or Scheduler, if enabled. In the Agenda, you can
view all of your calendar items in the order the assignments are
due, beginning with the month selected in Month view. The
Scheduler is where you can sign up for appointment windows if
your instructor is using Scheduler. Click the arrows to view the
previous or next week or month, depending on which you are
viewing.

To add an event to your calendar, click on the day, or the plus

icon at the top of the calendar. Give the event a name and assign
a date, time, and location, if there is one. Note that you can
always change the name and dates later. And select the
appropriate Calendar to which you would like to add the event.
You will only be able to add events to your personal calendar or
group calendars. Be aware that you cannot move a calendar
event from one calendar to another after it has been created. So,
make sure you add your event to the appropriate calendar.
Otherwise, you will have to delete and re-add it to the right
calendar. Click More Options to add more details to the event, like
an event description or a specific address. Then click Submit.

You can also subscribe to the feed for your calendars in iCal,
Outlook, Yahoo, and Google. Click the Calendar Feed link at the
bottom of your sidebar. Copy and paste the link into any calendar
app that takes iCal feeds. Note that this is a one-way feed, and
you cannot add to your Canvas calendar from your other
platforms. For details on subscribing to the Calendar Feed in
specific calendar applications, see the Canvas Guides.
