REVIEW RELATED LITERATURE

What is mental health in elderly? Isolation, mood and anxiety disorders, dementia, and
psychosis are all common mental health issues among senior citizens. As a result of
physical diseases or surgical treatments, many seniors experience sleep and behavioral
disturbances, cognitive impairment, and confused states. Mental health is crucial for
the elderly because it influences how we think, feel, and act in our daily lives. It
also influences how we deal with stress, interact with others, and make decisions.
Mental health is vital at any age, but especially as we become older. Many elderly
people are vulnerable to mental illness. Depression is the most common mental health
problem among the elderly. Depression, a form of mood disorder, is the most common
mental health problem among the elderly. Personal Connections is one of the mental
needs of the elderly. The elderly have a basic need to stay connected to family
members, friends, and other seniors. This is psychologically advantageous since such
interactions can reduce depression and loneliness while also improving emotional
stability. Feeling lonely is one of the most important concern of the elderly that can
affect the mental health of the elderly. The purpose of this study was to investigate
the predictive role of loneliness in mental health of elderly people.

As a result of declining mortality as well as improved health interventions population


ageing has been worldwide the has been a sharp increase in the number of older
person worldwide and more old people are alive now a days than at any time in
history the proportion of the population aged and over is also growing each year.

Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects
how we think, feel, and act as we cope with life. It also helps determine how we
handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every
stage of life, including as we age.

Many older adults are at risk for mental health problems. But this does not mean
that mental health problems are a normal part of aging. Studies show that most older
adults feel satisfied with their lives, even though they may have more illnesses or
physical problems.
