3 DEVICENET FIELD CONFIGURATION FOR THE MOOG DS2000XP EMV

CONTROLLER

3.1 DeviceNet is a simple networking solution that uses direct connectivity to improve
communication with other devices on a network. This network can then be used for control, to receive
data, or to configure devices. Some devices that can use DeviceNet are limit switches, controllers,
sensors, and actuators. Devices need to be configured individually to reduce configuration error and
must be powered off, then back on in order for the device to operate with the new configuration. Allen
Bradley uses a configuration program specific to DeviceNet called RSNetWorx for DeviceNet.

3.2 Step 11: Open RSNetWorx for DeviceNet, go to:

Start → Programs → Rockwell Software → RSNetWorx → RSNetWorx for DeviceNet

3.3 Step 12: All DeviceNet devices contain an Electronic Data Sheet (EDS) that holds
parameter and information about the device. To verify, the EDS file you should see under the Vendor
directory another directory called Moog Inc. The DS2000XP highlighted below should appear. If the
directory is not present or another file other than DS2000XP exists, please refer to the appendix
section “Adding EDS Hardware” or “Removing EDS Hardware”.

EDS File

3.4 Step 13: Once the proper EDS file has been installed from Step 12 (Paragraph 3.3),
the next step is to configure each valve controller one by one AND in a specific order. If this order is
not followed then the IO mapping setup in the engine control system software application may not be
mapped to the correct valve controller.

3.4.1 For RB211 DLE, the order should be:

a Node 1 - Central Gas Fuel Metering Valve

b Node 2 - Primary Gas Fuel Metering Valve

c Node 3 - Secondary Gas Fuel Metering Valve

d Node 4 - HP6 Bleed Air Valve (CO Turndown or Loadshed Only)

e Node 5 - Liquid Fuel Metering Valve (Dual Fuel DLE Units Only)

3.4.2 For RB211 or Avon non DLE, the order should be:

a Node 1 - Gas Fuel Metering Valve

b Node 2 - Liquid 1 Fuel Metering Valve (Dual Fuel Units Only)

c Node 3 - Liquid 2 Fuel Metering Valve (Triple Fuel Units Only)

3.13 Step 22: Repeat Steps 13 to 21 (paragraph 3.4 to 3.12) for each of the valve
controllers.

3.14 Step 23: Now since the baud rate of the controller has been changed, the baud rate of
the EMV DeviceNet card must be changed also to match it. For a series ‘B’ DeviceNet card, Remove
the port pin connector from inside the front cover of the EMV DeviceNet card or if available from the
UCP schematics, locate the 24V power terminals that apply power to the EMV DeviceNet card and lift
the connection. If it is a series ‘C’ DeviceNet card pull the card from the PLC rack.

3.15 Step 24: Now set the Baud rate to 250 by pressing and holding in the Manual

inside the front cover of the DeviceNet card for DNB series ‘B’.

3.16 For a series ‘C’ DNB card, set the dip switch of the data rate to ‘1’ for 250Kb.

3.17 Step 25: If the port pin connector was removed, place it back on the DeviceNet card or
if a connection was lifted then return it to normal. It is also necessary to check that the node on the
EMV DeviceNet card is unchanged and still reads 00.

3.18 Step 26: After all valve controllers have been configured individually, power off the
valve controllers and the Allen-Bradley controller. Power on all the valve controllers first and wait until
they are fully loaded and then power back on the Allen-Bradley controller so that the changes done
would now be reflected.

3.19 Step 27: Open a new network (click no if asked to save changes) and browse the
network (go to Network → Online) Refer Steps 14 through 17 (paragraph 3.5 to 3.8). All the devices
that were configured should appear with the correct name and node address. If a device does not
appear, has the wrong name or node address, then power off all controllers and repeat the
configuration from Step 3 (paragraph 2.4),for the series ‘B’ card OR Step 10 (paragraph 2.11) of the
series ‘C’ for the device that is not working properly.

3.20 Step 28: The graphical representation of the new network should now have the correct
node address values.

5 DOWNLOADING AND SAVING THE EMV TUNING SCRIPT PARAMETERS

NOTE: The tuning script parameters are parameters that set in the EMV Controller to control
the response of the electric motor valves. Each style of valve, i.e. the 1.5” gas fuel metering
valve, 2.0” gas fuel metering valve, 1.5” liquid fuel metering valve, or HP6 bleed valve have a
unique set of parameters for proper operation. The ECS program is set up to download these
parameters with the proper values. The next steps take you through how to download, verify,
and save the parameters in the EMV Controllers memory.

5.1 Step 39: Put the ECS controller into RUN mode and perform a “reset” to the UCP.

5.2 Step 40: In the ECS program, enter a value of “1.0” to the tuning tag
“Tuning.emv_script” found in “Program Tags” in “TimeClass3” shown below. Once all the parameters
have been downloaded to the controller, “Tuning.emv_script” will return to “0.0”.

5.3 Step 41: Verification that the script have been downloaded successfully is to, for DLE
applications, monitor the tag LEE65UC247. For NON-DLE applications, monitor the tag
LEE65UC038. If the value of the tag is “1”, then the tuning scripts have successfully been sent to
each valve controller.

NOTE: The ECS tuning tag command from the UCP will set the LEE tags in Step 30 (Paragraph
3.22) to “0”. The ECS will then try in Time Class 3 (with the use of the message commands in
ladder modules T3EMV* where * represents the unique valve, i.e. CEN for central valve or GAS
for gas valve) to download the tuning script to each controller. Once this occurs and if there
are no communication errors, you will see the LEE tags return to a value of “1” after the tuning
script has been downloaded. This LEE tag is a permissive to start the unit. If the LEE tag does
not return to “1” then there might be a communication error and the tuning script has not fully
been downloaded to the controllers. Please contact Mt. Vernon fuel control or Rolls-Royce
technical support for assistance.

5.6 Step 44: Return to RSNetWorx that was kept open in Step 38 (paragraph 4.7). Double-
Click on valve controller Node 01 to open its Properties Window. Select the Parameters Tab. A Pop-
Up Window will ask if you would like to upload or download the parameters. Click Upload to upload
the parameters from the device.

5.7 Step 45: Be sure that the EMV controllers are not enabled (i.e. tag o65fgme = 0). Now
scroll down through the parameters until you see the name “PARAM_UPDATE”. Enter a value of “1”
and click Apply. A pop-up window will ask if you would like to download the configuration to the
device. Click Yes. This step tells the controller to update the active database with the parameters
download from the ECS performed in Step 29 (Paragraph 3.21). To verify, click on the “Monitor”
button shown below. The “PARAM_UPDATE” should have automatically returned to a value of “0”.
After you see the value “0” return, click back on the “Monitor” button to stop monitoring the parameters.

5.8 Step 46: Be sure that the EMV controllers are still not enabled (i.e. tag o65fgme = 0).
Now continue to scroll down through the parameters until you see the name
“PARAMETER_SAVE_REQUEST”. Enter a value of “1” and click Apply. A pop-up window will ask if
you would like to download the configuration to the device. Click Yes. This step tells the controller to
save the active database to memory. Thus, if the controller is powered down, the parameters will not
be lost. To verify, click on the “Monitor” button shown below.

NOTE: The “PARAMETER_SAVE_REQUEST” should have automatically returned to a value of

“0”.

5.10 Step 48: As final confirmation, stroke all fuel valves from the ECS Tuning. Go to
TimeClass3 “Program Tags” and enter the value of “100.01” in tuning tag “ft_tune”. Then enter a value
from 1 to 100 for each valve (DLE example is shown below). Continue at multiple valve positions to
see the valve move physically (visual indicator on each EMV) to insure the IO mapping is correct.

5.11 Step 49: Configuration of the EMV Moog Electric Motor Valves is complete.

CAUTION: To avoid incorrect configuration of the EMV controllers i.e. assigning incorrect node
to controller or incorrect IO mapping of the controller on the DeviceNet card. It is necessary to
stroke each of the fuel metering valves individually by giving it a position set point and
physically noticing the valve move to the set point on the indicator. For example, In order to
verify the central valve for the DLE, in the program tags set the tuning.ft_tune to 100.01 and
give the tuning.zgc_test any set point ranging from 0- 100 . Make sure that you physically
watch the visual indicator on the FMV move to the given set point. Similarly verify for all the
controllers.
