COURSE SYLLABUS in Principles...

This 3 unit course examines principles and theories of language acquisition and learning over 15 weeks. [It covers topics such as behaviorism, cognitive theory, social interaction theory, functional approaches, philosophies of education, reading approaches, and present-day teaching methods.] Students will learn to define and differentiate language learning and acquisition, understand various theories, and analyze different views on language teaching. Learning activities include discussions, presentations, quizzes and a midterm and final exam. The goal is for students to understand the nature of language learning and critically examine theories and approaches.
