SHAPE/ FORM/SILHOUETTE

A shape is a two- or three-dimensional object that stands out from

the space next to it because of a defined or implied boundary

There are two basic types of Shape. The first being GEOMETRIC,
the second is ORGANIC.

FORM is a shape in 3 dimensions. And so is either Geometric or

Organic.

SILHOUETTE in fashion refers to the form of a garment once it is

worn by a person. In Art Silhouette refers to the shadow outline of

print design, logo etc.
3. The 2 dimensional shapes can be arranged and
repeated in different ways to create different visual
impact.
4. The outline of a garment is also its shape. And is called
Silhouette. In a collection to be harmonious , its important
to select a common silhouette for all the garments.

2. Tactile texture, is that texture that you can feel with your
sense of touch. It may be visible or not visible.
3. Visual texture, is that which has the illusion of texture. It is
neither form nor shape. Visual texture is the appearance
of texture. When it felt with the sense of touch, it doesn’t
feel as it appears.
4. Texture is used to create an illusion of volume, warmth, or
coolness, strength or weakness.

Space
SPACE

 Space, or depth, is the eponymous property of our 3-

dimensional world. It refers to the area that a shape or form
occupies. Space can be defined as positive or negative.
 Positive space is the filled space, the object(s) or
element(s) in the design.
 Negative space is the empty space, or the open space
between design elements or objects, such as a
background.
 Positive and negative space, white or black.
 Areas of a design that contain "nothing" (negative space)
are important visual elements that provide balance.
 Reducing (or increasing) negative space can affect the
impact of a design.
1. Space refers to the area that a shape or form occupies. .
2. There are 2 basic types of space. Positive and negative.
3. They are neither black or white because the world is full of color and
no color.
4. Positive space is the foreground or the objects. Negative space is the
background or the empty space.
5. Space can be used to both separate and connect elements in a
design. Wider spaces separate elements from each other and
narrower spaces connect elements to reveal relationships between
them. Overlapping elements maximizes their relationship
