MIL SCRIPT

NARRATOR: According to the latest survey the social weather station (SWS), seven out of ten
adult Filipinos believe the problem of fake news and its spread on the internet is serious.  We
are defining “fake news” as those news stories that are false: the story itself is fabricated, with
no verifiable facts, sources or quotes.
NARRATOR: now, let’s ask students from different grade level and adults on how can they
identify if that news or information that they read in the internet is a fake news.
(MA INTERVIEW MGA STUDENTS )
…..
NARRATOR: There are three kinds of information that we can acquire through the internet,
these are the misinformation, disinformation and mal information, yet some of us may
experience all this kinds of fake news that are really traumatic. In the same vein as A.K.A. Ash,
in the age of 14 she experienced three this stressing information that would cause harmful
event in her life.
CELINE: I’m A.K.A Ash currently 17 years old a senior high school student. Back then, I’m a top
student since elementary until high school, I joined and win different contest in school which
makes my family very proud.
ASH POV
Teacher: ok class, what is media?
Ash: (raising hands)
Teacher: Yes Ash what’s the answer?
Ash: media is the plural of medium, which broadly describes as the channel of communication.
Teacher: very good, how about media literacy?
(only ash raises her hands again)
Teacher: anyone from the group except for ash? Ok ash what’s the answer?
Ash: is the ability to access, analyze, evaluate and create media in a variety of forms .
(bell rings)
Teacher: ok well done ash, for your assignment please research the definition of fake news.
Class dismissed.
(nag gwa ang mga classmtes kag nag storyahanay)
CM1: can’t imagine where ash did get that answer, she’s so intelligent
CM2: she’s really deserving to be called beauty and brain
CM3: Yes, I agree, let’s buy some snacks in the canteen
CM1&2: Let’s go

NARRATOR: DISINFORMATION false information which is intended to mislead
(EH ACT NADI ANG GINA STORYA)
CELINE: I’m a top student ever since, but one traumatic incident happened to me, this
happened back in 2019, when I was 14 years old, I have a boyfriend we are in a relationship, it
was a manipulated relationship, he started chatting me when I was in grade 8. I called it as a
“love bomming” where he shower you with a flowering words like I am the prettiest girl in the
word. Naturally, I am still a child, prone for cheaters, eventually I fell for him and June 18 I
answered him, the next day is my birthday and June 24 the intercourse happened. September
1 my mom saw my diary, the account of my ex. Boyfriend was in there. I never opened his
account but my mom did, she saw every conversation in that account, she saw that that boy
and his friends planned something bad for me. After that my mom planned to file a case
because it has a probable cause, once it has a probable cause you can file a case, so we filed a
case but my mom ask for the permission of the teachers. I didn’t go to school because I filed a
case but the speculation in school was that I was pregnant.

Disinformation
NARRATOR: Everything was normal in the school campus but when this one fake news from an
officer got spread in the whole school everyone judged Ash. After that many stories got leaked
even it’s not true.
FRIENDS POV:
FRIEND: There was one girl she’s an officer in school, she told everybody that Ash’s parents
went to school and send a letter, the content of the letter was that Ash can’t do her duties as
an officer because she is pregnant.
CELINE: I was very emotional when I heard that fake news from my friend that was not true we
were busy that time and my parents did not send any letter on the school office.

(GING PALAPTA NIYA SA KAPWA YA OFFICER)

ATEGHURL: Did you know why ash did not go to school for almost 6 months?
ACTOR1: no I didn’t, I am curious until know

(gapaamati ang friend ni celine)

she is pregnant?
ATOR3: OMG, that’s so embarrassing
NARRATOR: Because of her friend curiosity, he go Ash’s house and as ask and her mom about
that news spreading in school.
FRIEND: hi Ash, do you hear the rumors in school?
ASH: why is there any problem?
FRIEND: everyone is talking about you in school that you are pregnant.
ASH: what the hell
FRIEND: it is told that your mom sent a letter in school that you can’t do your duties because
you are pregnant.
MOM: I am very busy this past months and weeks, me and my husband did not send any
letters regarding with that issue.
FRIEND: even me can’t believe that’s why I ask you aunt. Meaning it’s a fake news, that girl
spread a fake news intentionally
ASH: who’s girl?
FRIEND: hmm..****
ASH: That girl hates me since the first day because I am smarter than her, I think that’s why
she intentionally spread fake news in school to make people believe her and hate me.
MISINFORMATION

NARRATOR: because of that fake news intentionally spread by the officer that ash is Pregnant, her
classmates, friends, and other schoolmate believed that it was true and this one student shares this
incorrect information to the internet.
Seconds turned to minutes and minutes turned into hours until hour turned into days. The rumors
have spread like a wild fire inside of the school campus. Students are unknowingly spreading false
information like a virus.

(Clip of the scene where they are using messenger to talk about the situation)

This has been the topic of High school students and as they watch it they make some unnecessary
comments.

(Actor 1 ) : god! I thought see was a top student?

(Actor ). Me too!
Actor. Do you know a person who doesn't know about this?
Actor. Everyone knows about that rumors?!
Actor. Is it true?
Actor. Ofcourse it is. .
Actor: now we can send this to our group chat. So that everyone will know more about this .
Actor: yeah!

They then sent it from one group chat to another. Most people believed it. But some people who
really know Celine, they didn't believe it.

Actor. I could never be like her!

Actor. You said it right girl!
Actor. True! I would never do this!
Actor. I bet she's a disgrace to her family.
Actor. To be honest, I even looked up to her but now, I can't even stand her!
Actor. Who would even do such things!

Everyone keeps talking about it. Over and over again...

NARRATOR: Have you ever believed in a wrong information not knowing it was incorrect even
though it is not intended to mislead? That situation that ash experienced is what we called
misinformation where students believe in the a wrong information in the internet but it is not intended
because the student that share that fake news is not aware that the news that she heard from that
officer is a fake news.
MALINFORMATION

nagid ang issue tungod sa iya.
