Lesson Plan 2

Nick Ehko's 8th grade math lesson on writing linear equations given slope and ordered pairs was scheduled from 9:30-10:33 AM on 2/22/23. The lesson objectives were for students to write out the steps for writing linear equations in slope-intercept form, solve for the y-intercept given slope and ordered pair, and write equations given slope and y-intercept. Students used their textbooks, Chromebooks, and worksheets during independent and group activities to practice these skills. Nick assessed students throughout the lesson and concluded by having them submit their worksheets for review.

Lesson Objectives  Students will be able to write in words the steps they are
using while writing a linear equation in slope-intercept
form
 Students will be able to solve for the y-intercept when
given the slope and one ordered pair
 Students will be able to write a linear equation in slope-
intercept for after given the slope and y-intercept
Materials  Go Math textbook with interactive text (displayed on
Smartboard)
 Go Math textbook with interactive text (physical copy)
 Blank scratch paper
 Chromebook
Planning for Learners Differentiation: I will use process differentiation through
allowing students to access their book on their Chromebook if
they need. I will use content differentiation by giving my
students a worksheet instead of having them work out of their
book for the entire class. I will use learning environment
differentiation by allowing the students to be able to work alone
or together on certain problems. I will differentiate with learning
environment by allowing some particular students to sit by
themselves and others to sit at tables.
Modifications/Accommodations: I will walk some students
through our worksheet as the rest of the class do independent
work and group work with those at their table as some may need
extra help.
Lesson Presentation

11-22
Introduction We will begin class by students checking and recording their
grades on their grade sheets.
Sequence of activities Then I will have the students complete a quick check. Per
including assessments usually they will have 15 minutes to complete this and those
who do not finish will have to finish at another time. Next, I will
hand out to a sheet to record work and their answers. Students
will then select a starting point and from there answer questions
and solve problems. This activity will be based on independent
practice with the students doing the majority of the work all on
their own.

Students will be formally assessed after they have completed the

quick check on their ability to write out in words the steps to
finding the y-intercept.
Students will be assessed during the princess activity on if they
are able to solve for and show the proper steps for the y-
intercept.
Students will also be informally assessed during this time on
their ability to write an equation after being given the slope and
having found the y-intercept.
Lesson Wrap-up I will conclude class by having the students place their answer
sheets in the basket on my desk, so I can look at them later.
Self-Evaluation This lesson went well in my opinion. They worked well and the
activity got them engaged. I used pop culture to engage them
which I believe helped. It got a little bit chaotic at the end of
class and I could have had more structure at the end, but overall,
it was good.
