they've graduated high-school.
Entrepreneurship education does not just benefit those entering the fields of science,
technology, and business. Students of art, music, and humanities can develop their
imagination and learn how to apply creative thinking skills to real-world problems.

What’s New
Read an inspiring short story about an entrepreneur. Answer
the following question below: The next time you pass a vendor peddling goods on
the street, keep in mind that he or she can be supporting the next Alfredo M. Yao.
Alfredo took several odd jobs, which included time at a printing press. During his stay
there, Alfredo learned how to print cellophane wrappers for candies and biscuits. His
experience prompted him to start his own printing business.
His printing business was doing well. However, his discovery of the Doy Packaging
system from Europe was the turning point of his entrepreneurial career. He tried to
sell the system to juice manufacturers, but no one was interested. Thus, Alfredo
ventured into the juice business by concocting flavors in his kitchen.
These juices were not only delicious but also appealing to parents as they found the
light and brightly colored packs easy to include in their children’s lunch boxes. Best
of all, the packaging allowed the juice to stay chilled longer. Zest-O was born!
Today, Zest-O controls 80% of the juice market, and it has expanded to markets in
Australia, China, New Zealand, Korea, Singapore, US, and several countries in
Europe. Alfredo’s entrepreneurial success has revitalized the juice region in the
Philippines particularly farmers growing dalandan. The Doy packs are also recycled
by local cottage industries into handbags for export to other countries!
The boy who once faced the harsh realities of life now become a successful juice
manufacturer. Alfredo has diversified his business interests into airlines by acquiring
Asian Spirit Airlines and renaming it as Zest Air.

for innovation, investment and expansion in new market, products and techniques.
Competencies can be considered as the capacity , capability and ability to the learner
in handling situation in various areas in the business such as marketing management,
production, technical and financial aspects.
Characteristics of an entrepreneur:
1. Mental ability: Mental ability consists of intelligence and creative
thinking. An entrepreneur must be reasonably intelligent and should have
creative thinking and must be able to engage in the analysis of various
problems and situations in order to deal with them..
2. Clear objectives: An entrepreneur should have a clear objectives as to
the exact nature of the goods to be produced and subsidiary activities to
be undertaken
3. Business secrecy: An entrepreneur must be able to guard business
secrets. Leakage of business secrets to trade competitors is a serious
matter which should be carefully guarded against by an entrepreneur.
4. Human relations ability: The most important personality traits
contributing to the success of an entrepreneur are emotional stability,
personal relations, consideration and tactfulness.
5. Communication ability: Communication ability is the ability to
communicate effectively. Good communication also means that both the
sender and the receiver understand each other and are being understood.
6. Technical knowledge: An entrepreneur must have a reasonable level
of technical knowledge. Technical knowledge is the one ability that most
people are able to acquire if they try hard enough.
7. Motivator: An entrepreneur must build a team, keep it motivated and
provide an environment for individual growth and career development.
8. Self confidence: Entrepreneurs must have belief in themselves and
the ability to achieve their goals.
9. Long term involvement: An entrepreneur must be committed to the
project with a time horizon of five to seven years. No ninety- day wonders are
allowed.
10. Persistent problem solver: An entrepreneur must have an intense
desire to complete a task or solve a problem. Creativity is an essential
ingredient.
11. Initiative: An entrepreneur must have initiative accepting personal
responsibility for actions and above all make good use of resource.
12. Goal setter: An entrepreneur must be able to set challenging but
realistic goals.
13. Modern risk taker: An entrepreneur must be a moderate risk taker and
learn from any failures.

The entrepreneur have been broadly classified according to the types of
business, use of professional skill, motivation, growth and stages of development are
discussed below
Business entrepreneur: Business entrepreneurs are individuals who
conceive an idea for a new product or service and then create a business to
materialize their idea into reality. Some premier examples of Small Business
Entrepreneurship are grocery stores, plumbers, confectionary stores,
electricians, house cleaners, consultants, and hair dressers, among others

How will an artist turn that talent into a family-supporting career? Every career
and technical student with a skill to sell in the market place should consider
the difference between finding a job and making their own job.
There are many pathways to entrepreneurial success and they are all accomplished
by innovative and creative thinking, not by rote memorization. Looking for the
alternative answer, the highly personalized answer, the innovative idea, keeps the
creative thinking muscles strong as students move through the K-12 system.
Rural and urban communities suffer from brain drain. Sharp, young people who are
forced to leave the area to find a good job and make a career. Students who do
leave their communities frequently want to come back at some point in their lives, but
alas, they can’t land a good job opportunity back home. Those same communities
have needs unmet by businesses in their area. Young people who are creative,
entrepreneurial thinkers can turn those unmet needs into business opportunities and
stay in or return to their communities, generating employment and enlarging the local
tax base.

By participating in entrepreneurship programs, students don’t just become ready to
create their own futures — they become ready to change the world.
