DOLE- Davao de Oro collaborates with BJMP in a


ceremonial cheque turnover for Persons Deprived of
Liberty

February 17, 2023 – The Department of Labor and Employment XI- Davao de Oro Field Office
has lived up to the dream of Nelson Mandela’s famous maxim saying: “…A nation should not be
judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones.”

DOLE XI Regional Director Atty. Randolf C. Pensoy, along with DOLE Davao de Oro Chief Neil
Allan R. Baban and DILEEP Focal Eric T. Valiente, led the formal cheque turnover amounting to
four hundred ten thousand pesos (410,000.00) at BJMP Regional Office, Maa, Davao City. The
said amount is intended for the Bakery Project of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) under
Montereh’s Livelihood Association in the municipality of Montevista, Davao de Oro.

The said ceremony was personally attended by no less than the Regional Director of Bureau of
Jail Management and Penology JCSUPT. Isabelo V. Cartin Jr., JSUPT. Ian Glenn V. Ocmen,
Regional Chief of Directorial Staff, JCINSP. Jul Akbar L. Jamiri, District Jail Warden of
Montevista District Jail, and with two other officers present during the occasion.

DILEEP Focal Eric T. Valiente revealed that DOLE Livelihood Programs intend to assist
beneficiaries in alleviating poverty in the region; but at this point in time, the main objective is to
help beneficiaries change their lives in terms of economic pursuit. “It is the first partnership
between DOLE XI and BJMP XI and this activity becomes the stepping stone and hoping that it
would be replicated…” Atty. Randolf C. Pensoy said in a statement. Moreover, DOLE Davao de
Oro Chief Neil Allan R. Baban thanked BJMP for allowing them to serve again especially to
Persons Deprived of Liberty since it is one way of telling them that the government cares.

In response, BJMP Regional Director Cartin said: “We thank you DOLE XI for the approval and
the allocation of budget for this project. We hope we could replicate this in our field offices. This
is a milestone partnership between DOLE and BJMP.”
