CREATING

A. INTERVIEW. You will interview a former or a current Overseas Filipino Worker through
face-to-face or online. Draft your possible questions first. Make sure your questions will
tackle concerns about the factors or the reasons of their employment abroad. Two to
three questions will do.

Profile
Name: Mary Jean C. Pascual Sex: Female
Address: Nueva Ecija Age: 45
Where did you work: Saudi Arabia
How many years did you work in this country? 5 years
How long have you been working abroad? 5 years

Question #1: What is your purpose for coming abroad?

Response: My major reason for coming here is to support my husband with our funds and
to find work that would meet my children's needs.

Question #2: How does working abroad help your family?

Response: It was certainly beneficial for me and my family to go from housewife to OFW.
Even though my paycheck is low, I am able to send money to my family in the Philippines.
I was able to meet my children's requirements both at school and at home.

Question #3: How will you compare the Philippines from other countries?
Response: The Philippines' economy is severely inadequate. In comparison to other
nations, the wage is far too low. However, in terms of familial affection, the Philippines
remains the top. I can't seem to see the essence of the family in Saudi, no matter how
hard I try.

Question #4: What are the good and bad impacts of working abroad?
Response: Being an OFW is helpful since I am able to provide a better standard of living
for my family. However, being apart from my family causes me great grief. I miss my
family terribly at times, but all I can do is bear it since I have no other option.
B. Synthesis
Inside the heart-shaped organizer, express your learning and reflection you gained from
your interview. Share it with the class.

I emphasized that working

overseas and being distant from
family is difficult, but I also
understood that no matter what,
you will do everything you can for
the ones you love. That’s why I
salute to all of the OFW’s out
there.
