Math 5 Q3 Week 3
Math 5 Q3 Week 3
Competency:
The learner will be able to visualize, name, describe, and draw polygons with 5 or
more sides. M5GE-lllc-19
Expectations
This module was designed to keep, engage and help learners to master on how to
visualize, name, describe and draw polygons with 5 or more sides; describe and
compare properties of polygons (regular and irregular polygons); and visualize
congruent polygons.
Pre-test
Read each question carefully. Write the letter of the correct answer on your answer
sheet.
B. Polygon D. Ratio
2. What do you call a polygon that has the same measure or congruent in sides
and angle?
A. Irregular Polygon C. Circle
C. Hexagon is a polygon
B. Heptagon D. Hexagon
B. D.
Read the problems carefully. Determine the percentage that is being asked.
1. A bike costs P1200 but is reduced by 35%. How much is the bike reduced by?
2. I toss a coin more than 60 times. The tails comes down 45% of the times. How
many heads did I toss?
4. A toy cost P200 before the sales tax. If the sales tax is 10%. How much would
it cost to buy?
5. A bag contains some red, blue and yellow balls. 32% of the balls are blue and
44% are red. If there are 50 balls in the bag, how many are yellow?
POLYGONS
A Polygon is a plane figure whose sides are all line segments. It is defined as a
closed geometric figure formed by joining line segments which intersect exactly with
two other sides at a vertex. The word Polygon is derived from two Greek words poly
which means “many” and gon which means “angle”.
TERMS
Sides- One of the line segments that make up a Polygon
Vertex- The intersection of two endpoints
There are different kinds of polygons that are named according to the number of
their sides.

IRREGULAR POLYGONS
Polygons that have sides of different lengths and angles of different
measures are Irregular figures.
Illustration below are Irregular Polygons.
Figure 1 Figure 2
When we placed two polygons in Figure 1 and Figure 2 over the top of
the other, we found out that the two polygons in Figure 1 have the
same shape but different in size, while the two trapezoids in Figure 2
are identical and fit exactly with each other. We can say that they are
congruent or equal in size and shape.
Figure 2
Two Geometric figures are considered congruent if they are the same
size and shape. Therefore, two figures having the same number in
sides, the same corresponding angles and corresponding sides are
congruent. The symbol ≅ is used to show congruence.
Activities
Activity 1 Find Me
Draw an object that you can see at home that corresponds to the given
figures in each number.
1. Triangle
2. Quadrilateral
3. Trapezoid
4. Hexagon
Activity 2: Put a check ( /) in the box whether the given shape is regular or
irregular.
Regular Irregular

2.
3.
4.
5.
Activity 3
Determine whether the shapes are congruent or not.
1. 4.
3.
Remember
Polygon is a closed geometric figure formed by two joining line segments which
intersects exactly with two other sides at a vertex.
Regular Polygons are polygons having the same measure in sides and congruent in
angles.
Congruent Polygons are two figures having an equal measure in their corresponding
angles and corresponding sides.
