1. Juan and Pedro borrowed Php150,000 from Ana, Lorna, and Fe in solidum. Eventually, Ana validly
condones or disregards the debt in the amount of Php100,000 as she feels indebted to Juan and Pedro
for their parents’ benevolence when both of her parents died in an accident since Juan’s and Pedro’s
parents provided moral and financial support to Ana after the tragedy.

a. What kind of obligation is involved in the problem?


The problem involves joint liability. Each creditor has the right to demand full performance from
each debtor, and the debtor is obligated to pay. Ana, Lorna, and Fe, the creditors, have the right
to demand 150,000php from the debtors, Juan and Pedro. Each of the three women has the right
to sue the debtors for payment of their respective shares.

b. What is the effect of Ana’s act of condoning the debt in the amount of Php100,000 with respect
to Juan’s and Pedro’s debt? With respect to Lorna’s and Fe’s credit?
If Ana ignores her 100,000 pesos, Juan and Pedro's debt is reduced to 50,000 pesos. Ana is liable
in this case for her shares owed to fellow creditors.

2. William and Harry obliged themselves to deliver to Elizabeth a bullet-proof car on her birthday. William
and Harry agreed in front of Elizabeth to contribute the amount that will be used to buy the car.
However, Harry failed to give his contribution to the purchase price of the car, hence, the car was not
delivered to Elizabeth on her birthday.

a. What kind of obligation is involved in the problem?


The problem's obligation is Obligation with a Period. William and Harry agreed to deliver a
bulletproof vehicle to Elizabeth, but Harry was unable to contribute to the purchase of the vehicle
and within the time limit he was classified, resulting in a commitment with a deadline. According
to period or period sources, they had to settle the situation because they agreed to a traditional
or voluntary arrangement.

b. What should Elizabeth do?


Elizabeth should discuss the agreement with William and Harry. Elizabeth has the right to request
the item promised to her because William and Harry agreed to deliver the bullet-proof car on her
birthday.
