Question 4

a) The velocity of a moving body is 3𝑡 2 − 10𝑡 metres per second after a time of 𝑡 3
seconds. Find the displacement of the body at the end of 10 seconds.

b) A tin contains three (3) chocolate biscuits and five (5) ginger biscuits. Two
biscuits are selected at random without replacement.

i) Draw a probability tree diagram to show this information, including all the 8
possible outcomes and probabilities.

ii) Use your tree diagram to find out the probability that both biscuits are 2
different.

iii) Use your tree diagram to find out the probability that both biscuits selected 2
are the same type.

iv) Use your tree diagram to find the probability that at least one chocolate 2
biscuit is selected.

c) Calculate the number of ways we can select FOUR (4) letters from the word 3
‘flower’ if repetitions are not allowed, and different orders of the same letters
count as the same selection.
