ATSimTest - Step-by-step

Note: This document is only a rough draft. It is not to be considered as a complete or

comprehensive documentation of the ATSimTest upgrade procedure.

Step 1:
Make sure you‘re qualified to use ATSimTest. You need to be registered as a member
of one of the participating divisions (stated on the ATSimTest website) on the main
VATSIM website and the CERT system.

Step 2:
Using your web browser, go to

http://www.atsimtest.com

Log in using OAuth (VATSIM Single Sign On). On the provided VATSIM SSO login
page, enter your VATSIM ID and password.

Step 3:
Read the “My status” page, section “Opportunities”, that can be displayed after login. It
gives detailed information on whether or not you are eligible to take a theoretical test for
your next rating.

Step 4:
If you are eligible to take a test, click on the link that says “Click here for more
information“.
An opportunity information page will be displayed. Read the information. Afterwards
click on the link that says “Yes, please generate my test”.
The test form will be generated for you. Now click on the link that says “Click here to
access the test form”.

Step 5:
Start filling out the test form. There might be multiple-choice questions, or free-text
questions, or a mix of both. Remember to regularly click the button that reads “Save my
answers“, even if your form hasn’t been completed yet. You can always come back to
your test (within its validity period) to continue completing it; via the “My status” page.

When you have answered and reviewed your answers, save them one last time. Now
click the link saying “Click here to submit your answers.”

Step 6:
Depending on the type of test you just completed, ATSimTest will display the test
results immediately or you will have to wait a few days for one of the ATSimTest staff
members to correct your free-text questions. So be sure to check ATSimTest regularly if
you didn’t get your test results immediately.

Regardless of your result (failed or passed) ATSimTest will tell you to contact your
vACC Training Department. They need to issue an upgrade recommendation (which
may involve a practical test) or a retest token, depending on your result.

If you have any questions, please contact your local vACC staff in first instance. If they
cannot answer your question, contact the ATSimTest Lead, Steven Fauconnier
<[email protected]>, or any other ATSimTest staff member.
