TOEFL

The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)

measures the level of English language proficiency of
non-native speakers of English. It is written and
published by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) of
Princeton, New Jersey, USA. The TOEFL is an
admissions requirement at collages and universities in
United States and other parts of the world.

At each level, competency is measured in three
areas, which are listed below. Each area has a
specific number of questions.

Listening comprehension: 50 multiple choice

questions (the test lasts 35 minutes).
Structure and Written Expression: 40 multiple-choice
questions (25 minutes)
Reading Comprehension: 50 multiple choice
questions (55 minutes)
LISTENING
There are 30 questions in Part A, 8 in Part B and 12 in Part C.

Part A: In this part you will listen to short conversations (about 10

seconds) between two people in all kinds of situations. For
example, at work, at university or in an informal setting between
friends. Immediately after each conversation, you will be asked a
question about it. Here are some of the most common ones:

What does the woman imply?

How does the woman feel about…?
What will the man probably do?
PART B
Part B: In this part you will listen to longer conversations,
listening long conversation, (up to 2 minutes). In this
task, there will be four questions referring to the same
conversation. Therefore, you will have to pay close
attention to catch as much information as possible. You
will find general questions about the conversation or
about specific details, for example:

What are the two women discussing?

How does the man feel about the news?
What type of craft is not mentioned?
What could Sarah do in the near future?
ART C
P
Part C: In this last part you will listen to several
monologues or similar lectures, also known as a
listening lecture, that you might hear in a university
class.

After each one, you will be asked some general or specific

questions, such as:

What is the speaker's main point?

In what century did this practice start?
What other term is used to refer to...?
What physiological reason is mentioned?
1. Be careful! You will only have one chance to listen to the audio and the question, as

well as to choose the correct answer. That is why it is very important that you train

yourself before the exam, especially for this part.

2. The information is usually not very complicated to understand, but the trick of the

test is that they usually make you hesitate between two answers and both seem

correct. This is where you have to pay attention to the details: connectors,

synonyms...

3. If you can do notes do it

4. Practice listen diferents audios and writte what do you remember
