01 Full Installation Guide

Pre Installation
1. Do NOT run any OE J2534 service programming software on your PC; disable
any firewall, virus scan or security software. Administrative rights are also required
to install iflash for some users(contact you System Administrator if you are not sure).
2. Insert the iflash CD in your CD drive. The installation wizard should automatically
start. If it does not, Click on the Start Menu, go to Run and enter
D:\webautorun.exe (where D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive. Then click OK
3. If you downloaded the software from the web, run the PS01064Web.exe package.

Installation
STEP 1 – Install the 2534GP Firmware, Dll, Utility and the USB driver
1. Click Complete 2534 Global Programmer & iflash Installation.

2. Selecting a Connection:

Please read below to determine which connection you should use.

If you are installing iflash for the first time:


Use the RS-232 option.
If you are upgrading iflash from versions 3.62 or lower:
Use the RS-232 option.
If you are upgrading your iflash from version 3.70 or greater and you are using
your USB cable to program:
Use the USB option.
If you are upgrading your iflash from version 3.70 or greater and you are using
your RS-232 cable to program:
Use the RS-232 option

All other cases (including if your not sure):


Use the RS-232 option.

The instructions for the RS-232 option starts on the next page and for the USB option it
starts on page 7.

RS232 CONNECTION
a) Select RS232 Cable method for installation. DO NOT connect your RS-232
cable at this time.

b) Connect your RS-232 cable as per the instructions.

c) Click Start Update to begin the 2534GP firmware update and wait for the
firmware update to complete.

d) Click OK once the firmware update has completed.

e) The software will now start to install the USB driver. If you exit at this step, you
WILL NOT be able to use USB for flash programming. Click on the USB
Driver button to start the USB installation process.

f) Connect your USB cable to the 2534GP and disconnect the RS-232 cable, the
‘Found New Hardware Wizard’ will appear.

Note:
When the USB driver is not found automatically, click browse and select the
C:\Program Files\BSE2534GP folder.

Windows XP Users – Complete the wizard as shown below:

Windows 98/ME/2000 Users - Wait for the wizard to disappear (then click USB
test):

g) Verify that the USB Driver version is displayed. If so, the USB driver has been
successfully installed.

If the USB test fails, unplug and plug in the USB cable to re-install the USB driver.

Windows 98/ME/2000/XP Users:

Once the USB driver is installed, you may proceed to Installation Step 2(page 12).

USB CONNECTION
a) Select the USB Cable method for installation. DO NOT connect your USB cable
at this time.

b) Connect your USB cable to the 2534GP and the ‘Found New Hardware Wizard’
will appear.

Windows XP Users – Complete the wizard as shown below:

Windows 98/ME/2000 Users – Wait for the wizard to disappear.

If you cannot verify your USB settings, you must disconnect and reconnect the
USB cable to re-install the driver.

c) Click Start Update to begin the 2534GP firmware update and wait for the
firmware update to complete.

d) Please wait while your 2534 Global Programmer is being configured.

e) In order to optimize your USB connection, you must update the USB driver.

f) Disconnect and reconnect your USB cable and the ‘Found New Hardware
Wizard’ will appear.

Windows XP Users – Complete the wizard as shown below

Windows 98/ME/2000 Users - Wait for the wizard to disappear.

g) Verify that the USB Driver version is displayed. If so, the USB driver has been
successfully installed. If not, you must disconnect and reconnect the USB cable
to re-install the driver.

For Windows 98/ME/2000/XP Users:

Once the USB driver is installed, you may proceed to Step 2 – Install iflash.

STEP 2 – Install iflash

1. We will now install the iflash application software.

2. Select the destination folder to install iflash (the default location is


recommended).

3. The iflash application is now fully installed.

STEP 3 – Configure OE Application Software

1. Post iflash installation instructions for OEM software.

2. For Windows 98/ME users:

You will need to install the Microsoft Data Access components v 2.8. This will
have to be done to display the help file format (including the instructions for
setting your 2534GP as the default device for Ford Module Programming). To
install the Microsoft Data Access components, click the button and follow the on-
screen instructions and accept the End user License Agreement to complete the
process.

3. The post iflash installation instructions for users who have previously installed the
Ford programming software. If you do not complete this step, Ford Module
Programming may not recognize your 2534 Global Programmer.

STEP 4 – Authorize Your 2534 Global Programmer

1. The Global Programmer must be authorized for it to communicate with


ECM/PCMs. This is a one-time process (once performed, it will not have to be
authorized again – even if a reinstall of iflash or 2534GP firmware is performed.
At this stage, the installation software will detect the Global Programmer’s
authorization status.

If the Global Programmer is not Authorized: The button below will display
Authorize (If you would like to update your contact information, choose this option).

If the Global Programmer is currently Authorized: The button below will display Re-
Authorization, in case of any changes to the customers contact information. If no
changes are required, you may click the Exit button (the installation process will be
completed and you are ready to program).

2. Select Internet Authorization to authorize the programmer via the Internet. If
you do not have an Internet connection, a phone Authorization must be
performed.

Note – We highly recommend an Internet connection for updates, news, bulletins and
other exciting new features.

3. A properly filled in registration form will allow us to keep you informed about
new updates. It is also required for warranty registration.

Internet Authorization:

Phone Authorization:

Here you need to enter your Name, Company and the Serial Number that you will
receive from Blue Streak Electronics customer support.

Once the serial number is written into the Global Programmer, a Verification code
must also be entered (this will be provided by Blue Streak Electronics customer
support).

4. The Global Programmer is now authorized. You are ready to program.
