I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, students 85% of proficiency are expected to:

a. understand what is poem/poetry;


b. identify the 3 main categories of poetry;
c. identify the various examples of poetry under each category; and
d. write their own poetry.

1. The students will know the definition of poetry as being discussed by the teacher.
2. The students will be familiarized with the categories of poetry.
3. The students will be aware of the poetry examples that the teacher will provide.

2. The students will provide an example of the appropriate categories of poetry based on their understanding of the

Activity 1: Direction: Identify what kind of poetry is there on your screen.

1. This is a type of poetry that always has rhyme and rhythm.

2. Type of poetry with no measurement.

3. It tells stories through verse.

4. Sonnet 18 by William Shakespeare is what category of poetry belongs?

5. This poetry has a plot, characters, and setting.

6. It is a combination of lyric and poetry where a piece of poetry is written as a lyric.
