Methodology ( please include all the strategies and activities that to be used to achieve the teaching
objectives)
Session III:
Warm up Activity
Teacher will ask questions related to the use of decimals in real life context.
What was the last reading they saw on a petrol pump station?
What have they noticed on the grocery bills?
Did they ever notice the percentage in their report cards?
What was their last score in any test?
Have they ever noticed the temperature taken on the thermometers?
Then she will write students answer on the white board and ask what have they noticed about
these numbers, and will ask question: Are these whole numbers?
On basis of this information which will be shared in class teacher will further brainstorm previous
concept of fractions and then advance into it.
Middle
She would show a whole strip of paper and tell students that it represents one whole strip. Then she will
fold it into 10 equal parts and ask people how one part can be call out as fraction and then into decimals.
(Textbook Pg#148-151)
Then she will draw the bar of 10 parts on white board and start shading parts and drill the concept with
1 2 3
=0.1 , =0.2 , =0.3…
10 10 10
What is decimal ? A decimal is a point that separates whole part from a fractional part .
Explanation:
One decimal place to the left of the decimal point is the ones place/whole number. One decimal place to
the right of the decimal place is the tenths place. The decimal point separates the whole part from the
fractional part e.g. 1.7
Note: We read 2.13 as two point one three
Decimals are a method of writing fractional numbers without writing a fraction having a
numerator and denominator.
7
The fraction could be written as the decimal 0.7. The period or decimal point indicates that this
10
is a decimal.
The decimal 0.7 could be pronounced as SEVEN TENTHS or as ZERO POINT SEVEN.
2
Example: Express 3 as a decimal
10
(Pg#149 textbook)
Ones Tenths
3 2
2
3 = 3 ones + 2 tenths
10
= 3 + 0.2
= 3.2
The digit 3 is in the ones place.
The digit 2 stands for 0.2
Classwork:
One question on each page will be done by the teacher on the white board for students rest of the
questions will be done by the students on their own in the presence of the teacher .

Homework:
Session II:
Recapitulation of the topic will be done by asking the students about the decimals. How can we call out decimals?
Written work:
Then she will ask the students to open textbook pg# 151-154 and ask questions from students to solve the questions
with in the book. ( Q#7, 8, 9,10,11 on Pg#151-153 and Q#1 on pg154) She will explain the questions on whiteboard as
well.
Assessment. Below please write the titles of the assessment tasks. For approval attach the detailed tasks and guided
assignments as appendices.
Classwork:
Q#7, 8, 9,10,11 on Pg#151-153 and Q#1 on pg154 will be done in the book
Textbook Page 153(Q12) and Page 154, Q#2 will be done in the notebook.
