CHAPTER 4: ORGANIZING
THE POLICE DEPARTMENT
● CLO 1: Outline the historical background and concept of policing and criminal
investigation, including investigation theory, techniques and practice in a team as well as
required skills for employment, specifically to employment within police, enforcement
agencies and related industry.
● CLO 2: Discuss the social and cultural diversity for the need of individual, community,
organizational and societal support, cooperation and commitments towards the
preservation of peace and safety through effective policing and crime prevention.
● CLO 3: Describe the key concepts and theoretical approaches that have been developed
and are developing in relation to crime, response to crime, investigating crime and
policing the society and community and live up to the expectation of policing in the 21st
century with the capability to manage contemporary policing issues.
