4 Preparing Implementation
In the SAP SuccessFactors instance, the following provisioning switches need to be checked in the Company
Settings of your company: Edit Company Settings Company Settings
The solution content is translated into multiple languages supported by the product. For the detailed list of
languages, check Solution Scope.
As default and at a minimum, the English US (en_US) language pack has to be enabled.
Enable below feature for permission of accessing SAP Best Practices Upgrade Center:
Enable SAP Best Practices in Upgrade Center (Use only in Test and Development. This switch is designed Enable
for usage by consultants and partners only.) [Demoable, Not Ready for Production]
Before activating this solution via Upgrade Center, we must enable the main features in provisioning manually.
If the instance is an auto provisioning one, assume the feature is already enabled. Check whether the below
features have been enabled, if not, enable them firstly.
Note
For the default enabled platform features part, check the section More Information [page 20].
Caution
For this solution, Role-based Permission is required. For customers who are already running any talent
management or employee central application and still use legacy permission, consider that this will disable
Administrative Domains and new permission groups and roles need to be created.

4.2 Creating a User for Activation of SAP Best Practices
Content
Use
In this activity, you create a user to run and check the upgrades for the related SAP Best Practices solution
scope if not yet available in the system.
Note
Use the User ID UPCAdmin with a valid email address to activate the SAP Best Practices content. Thus, you
avoid changing ownership during the activation.
If already created the same purpose user UPCAdmin for upgrade center automation, you can reuse and
add delta permission to permission roles following the section Setup Upgrade Center Admin Role [page
9].
Procedure
1. Log on to SAP SuccessFactors Provisioning for your instance using the following link:

Admin Password Enter password, this password needs to be changed with the first login to a password
that’s suitable to your company policy
Admin First Name Enter the first name for the admin user
Admin Last Name Enter the last name for the admin user

Admin Email Enter the Admin’s email address
Caution
Enter a valid email address. All logs and status updates regarding the implementation will be send via
mail to this email address.
6. Flag the box I confirm that customer has provided approval of Super Admin user account creation.
7. Enter a valid email address in the Notify customer by email when the Super Admin user is created. Input
email address box.
8. Select Create Admin to create the admin user.
9. Enter your Company ID and select Confirm. The user has been generated.
Use
This section describes the set-up steps necessary to allow the previous created user to manage the role-based
permission access.
Caution
In Admin Center if not yet done select Switch back to OneAdmin in the left corner.
Procedure
1. Log on to your SAP SuccessFactors instance and go to Admin Center from the Home tab.
2. Type Manage Role-Based Permission Access in the tool search box and select the feature/tool from the list.
The Manage Role-Based Permission Access page opens.
3. Choose Add User. In the User Name field, enter the admin user name you have created before and choose
Search.
4. Select the user name UPCAdmin in the Search Users portlet and choose Grant Permission. Then choose
I’m Done.
5. Log out and log on again as admin user to refresh the assigned role based permission. Your admin user
now has authorization to maintain role-based permissions.

4.4 Manage Upgrade Center Admin Permission
For implementing the SAP Best Practices Succession Management, some basic permissions are needed to
run the activation and to check the result. Only for this purpose, create SAP Best Practices Upgrade Center
Admin role and group as described below.
Note
This role and group is only needed for the implementation of the SAP Best Practices solution scope and
can be deleted after the finalization.
1. Log on to your SAP SuccessFactors instance with user UPCAdmin and go to Admin Center from the Home
tab.
2. Type Manage Permission Groups in the tool search box and select the feature/tool from the list. The
Manage Permission Groups page opens.
3. Select Create New. The Permission Group page opens.
4. On the Definitions tab, enter SAP BestPractices Upgrade Center Admin for the group name.
5. In the Choose Group Members: People Pool section, in Pick a category, choose User Name.
6. In the Search Results window select the upgrade center admin name, for example UPCAdmin.
7. Select Done.
Note
For the same purpose of permission role for upgrade center automation, you need to reuse and add delta
permission followed below.
1. Log on to your SAP SuccessFactors instance and go to Admin Center from the Home tab.
2. Type Manage Permission Roles in the tool search box and select the feature/tool from the list. The
Permission Role List page opens.
3. Select Create New. The Permission Role Detail page opens. Enter SAP BestPractices Upgrade Center
Admin for the role name and Upgrade center admin role for the description.
4. In the Permission Settings section, choose Permission… The Permission settings window opens. Grant the
following user permissions:

Note
For customer who deploys SAP SuccessFactors Talent solution firstly time and without employee
central enabled, need to select permission Employee Import under Manage User, refer to SAP KBA
2187218 Control Employee Import via RBP - HCM Suite .
5. Select Done. You will now revert to the Permission Role Detail page.
6. Scroll down to section 3. Grant this role to... and select Add. On the Grant this role to… page select
Permission Group and the upgrade center admin group. For the target population select Everyone.
7. Select Done.
8. Choose Save Changes to update the role.
Caution
The XMLs of the data models: Succession Data Model XML are enhanced as part of the content activation.
For tracking purposes and a later comparison, create a backup of the current data models via Provisioning:

This section describes the steps necessary to enable the Intelligent Services.
Procedure
1. Log on to your SAP SuccessFactors instance and go to Admin Center from the Home tab. Type Upgrade
Center in the tool search box and select the feature/tool from the list.
2. Inside the Upgrade center, go to the Recommended Upgrades section and to Intelligent Services and
choose Learn more & Upgrade Now.
3. You can see the feature details now. At the bottom, chooseUpgrade Now.
4. On the next screen choose Yes and log off from the company’s instance.
1. Log on to your SAP SuccessFactors instance and go to Admin Center from the Home tab.
2. Go to the super admin permission role, choose Permission. Under Administrator Permissions
Intelligent Services Tools enable as below:

It is not recommended to enable/disable this feature via Provisioning. You can Undo the upgrade within
30 days after upgrade.

5 Implementation
In this step, the solution is implemented by following the content in the Upgrade Center according to the
pre-defined sequence.
The SAP Best Practices solution contains the common foundation which provides the required data models,
picklists. After the automated implementation, additional post-processing steps are required. Those are
described in the section Post-Processing .
Based on the provided configuration workbook and RBP workbooks, the Best Practices pre-configuration can
be adapted to the customer requirements.
Note
7. A dialog screen confirms the update and that the activation is executed in the background.
8. Track the status of the upgrade as described in the next section.
Caution
• Don’t run several activations in parallel. This ensures an error free running of each activation.
• Wait for the completion of each activation.
The activation will schedule several background jobs for executing each single configuration step.

After triggering the activation of content, several mails will be sent out to the user UPCAdmin who triggered the
activation in Upgrade Center:
• One with the subject Upgrade Center Notification: "Best Practices Succession Management Role Person
Nomination Method" Upgrade Status which provides you the final status of the upgrade.
• One with a detailed log of the different configuration steps and their status.

Errors are shown as BPMsg in the detailed log, for example BPMsg:

6 Post-Processing
Caution
Super admin role SFCC Super Admin (Succession Mgmt) and group SFCC Super Admin Group are created
as part of the automation. Role SFCC Super Admin (Succession Mgmt) covers all required permissions for
doing configuration and running the business processes.
Follow the step Create Super Admin User [page 14] to create super user who will execute Post- Processing. If
any suitable super user already exists in the company, feel free to use and move to Assign Super Admin User
into Permission Group directly.
Use
This section describes how to create a super admin user if customer doesn’t have. This user will be used for the
business process execution and the further configuration.
Procedure
1. Log on to your SAP SuccessFactors instance with user UPCAdmin and go to Admin Center using the
following information:

2. In Admin Center, via Employee Import functionality. To do so follow the steps below:
1. Type Employee Import in the tool search box and select the feature/tool from the list.

4. On the Resetting User Passwords screen, search for the newly created user. Enter New Password and
Confirm Password and choose Reset User Password.

This section describes the set-up steps necessary to allow the previous created super admin to manage the
role-based permission access.

Procedure
1. Log on to your SAP SuccessFactors instance with user UPCAdmin and go to Admin Center from the Home
tab.
2. Type Manage Role-Based Permission Access in the tool search box and select the feature/tool from the list.
The Manage Role-Based Permission Access page opens.
3. Choose Add User. In the User Name field, enter super admin user name you have created before and
choose Search.
4. Select the username in the Search Users portlet and choose Grant Permission.
5. Log out and log on again as super admin user to refresh the assigned role based permission. Your super
admin user now has authorization to maintain role-based permissions.
All processes are described based on the new People Profile. To enable it and for changing the sequence,
reworking the MDF information for deductions and payment information, check the following steps:
Pre-defined views exist in the current system and match the requirements for testing. If you need to add new
views you can configure them according to the following steps.
1. Log on to your SAP SuccessFactors instance and go to Admin Center using the following information:

2. Type Configure People Profile in the tool search box and select the feature/tool from the list.
3. On the Configure People Profile screen you have the following functions:
1. To add blocks to an existing section, go to Admin Center Employee Files Configure People
Profile and view Available Blocks.
2. Use the search box or scroll through the Available Blocks panel to find the block you want to add.
3. Drag the block from the Available Blocks panel to an existing subsection.
4. Choose Save changes.

6.2.2 Reviewing Talent Profile Section
This section helps you add/delete/edit the blocks in the talent profile of people profile.
Note
We recommend to change the tab name from Scorecard to Talent Profile. But for the customer, check
existed instance settings and changes on demand.
A collection of recommended blocks for scorecard or additional talent profile views are listed in the Talent
Profile tab of workbooks.
1. Log on to your SAP SuccessFactors instance and go to Admin Center using the following information:

2. Type Configure People Profile in the tool search box and select the feature/tool from the list.
3. On the Configure People Profiles screen, dropdown and select the Scorecard view.
4. Choose Scorecard and change Scorecard to Talent Profile under the Edit Section in the left window, choose
Enter.
5. Use the search box or scroll through the Available Blocks panel to find the block you want to add.
6. Drag the block from the Available Blocks panel to an existing subsection.
7. For some blocks you need to enter the Block Title and Block Description.
8. For some blocks you need to add different User Fields, choose Add Field and select from the dropdown
menu.
9. Continue adding blocks, as desired. You can add as many blocks as you wish to a section. Subsections are
automatically created as you add blocks.
10. When you’re done, save your changes.
This section helps you specify the process and valid date range for the performance data you want to display
on the Talent Profile.
1. Log on to your SAP SuccessFactors instance and go to Admin Center using the following information:

2. Type Configure People Profile in the tool search box and select the feature/tool from the list.
3. On the Configure People Profile screen, select the General Settings tab and scroll down to Talent Data
Settings.

4. Choose the Process as All data sources.
5. Define the Date Range, for example, 01/01/2019 – 12/31/2019.
6. Choose Save.

2. Type Manage Permission Roles in the tool search box and select the feature/tool from the list. The
Permission Role List page opens.
3. On the Permission Role Detail page, choose the existing super admin role.
4. In the Permission Settings section, choose Permission. The Permission Setting window opens.
5. Check that the Live Profile Access permission is checked in the General User Permissions.
6. For the following, enable the permissions for Employee Views:
