WRITING BLOGS

The internet has created a new world where you can access information of any kind with just the
mere click of a computer button. About 4 million people rely on the boundless capabilities of this
revolutionizing technology. It is an exemplar of unrestricted creativity and innovation that
enables many people to express their ideas, cure their boredom, sell their goods, and go about
their daily lives with ease. With the rise of such advancement, the internet has paved the way
for access to writing blogs.

“Blog” originated as a slang for “web log.” Those two words were mauled and mangled, then
thus out sprang the widely used term “blog.” Over the past decades since its appearance, it has
evidently evolved and advanced. Many would ask, “Is blogging still relevant?” The numbers
certainly say so.

There are 70 million new posts each month, and 42% of the web is on WordPress alone. In a
recent survey, out of all the content marketing modes out there, such as videos, infographics,
ebooks, and online events, 90% of businesses used blogs to help market their brands within the
last 12 months. But it doesn’t stop there. Blogging goes beyond working with brands and
advertisers. Your blog is your online platform for sharing your most recent passion. It is where
you can condense the experiences, ideas, and concepts you've gained throughout your
academic, business, professional and personal journeys.

Blogging for business or anything else that might bring you money has a simple goal: to
increase your visibility. Various businesses rely on customers to keep purchasing their goods
and services. As a growing one, you rely on blogging to reach out to potential customers and
pique their interest. Without it, your website would be invisible, whereas blogging makes you
discoverable and competent. Your blog's readership increases the recognition and credibility of
your brand. Personal and niche bloggers saw a chance to engage with more individuals that
shared common interests. A blog allows readers to leave comments and interact with you or
your brand, which aids in establishing a platform of devoted fans.

To manage and run a blog, one needs a various set of skills. It entails giving a website the tools
it needs to make creating, publishing, linking, and sharing content on the internet simpler.

How to Start a Blog

1. Consider your target audience.
Before beginning to write a blog post, it is essential to have an understanding of
your key demographic. Inquire, for example:
● What do they want to know?
● What will they find intriguing
2. Evaluate your competition.
Popular blogs that have received positive reviews are worthwhile considering
because their execution and strategy contributed to their credibility. The goal isn't
to replicate these elements, but rather to gain a better sense of what readers look
for in a great blog.

There are some factors to keep in mind in conducting such an analysis:

● Visuals: Consider the brand image, color scheme, and motif of the blog.
● Copy: Examine the tone and text structure of the competition to see what
readers respond well to.
● Topics: Determine which topics their readers are interested in discussing.

3. Decide which subjects you'll cover.

It is important to pick a topic to blog about. To know, it may help to ask yourself
questions like:
● What do I want to write about?
● To whom will I write?
● Do I understand this topic well?
● Is this topic timely and relevant?

4. Determine what makes you unique.

This is critical in determining the progression of your blog's future. You must
determine what makes you stand out from everyone else.

5. Give your blog a name.

The name of your blog gives your audience an idea of your content. Choosing the right
name creatively will increase your visibility.
According to bloggers, some tips on how to choose your blog name include:
● Keep your blog name easy to say and spell.
● Link your blog name to your brand message.
● Consider what your target audience is looking for.

6. Create a domain for your blog.

A domain is a component of the web address nomenclature that someone would
use to locate your website or a page of your website online. The domain for your
blog will look like this: www.yourblog.com. The name that appears between the
two periods is entirely up to you, as long as this domain name does not already
exist on the internet. Here are five other popular web hosting services to choose
from:
● GoDaddy
● HostGator
● DreamHost
● Bluehost
● iPage

7. Select a CMS and develop your blog.

A CMS, or Content Management System, is a software application that allows
users to create and manage websites without having to code them from the
ground up. CMS systems can control both domains and subdomains; where you
create your website and where you create a webpage that connects to that
website.

8. Personalize the look of your blog.

Once you've registered your domain name, customize the look of your blog to
reflect the theme of the content and brand you intend to build. Ensure the article
matches the website in terms of appearance and subject matter if you already
manage a website and are writing the first post for that website.

● Logo: This can be your brand's name and logo. It will remind your
audience who is publishing the content.
● "About" Page: You may already have an "About" synopsis that describes
yourself or your brand. An extension of this more general statement is the
"About" section of your blog. It is your blog's mission statement, which
supports your company's goals.

Writing Blogs

1. Pick a topic.
This topic must be relevant to your brand, one you’re passionate about and
knowledgeable about. Experienced bloggers advise that topic brainstorming will help.
This can be done by:
● Changing the topic scope
● Adjusting your time frame
● Choosing a new audience
● Taking a positive/negative approach
● Introducing a new format
2. Create an outline.
When your blog posts contain an overwhelmingly substantive amount of information, it is
imperative to structure them into organized sections. This will make it more palatable
and easier to process for readers.

3. Write an introduction.
It is essential to make your introduction captivating. This is what hooks potential readers
and grabs their attention. The introduction must describe the purpose of your post; it
must give the audience an insight into your content.

4. Build the content.

Use your outline as a guide in expanding and providing your points. It is not enough to
just write about what you already know. One must conduct sufficient research to have a
coherent and comprehensive blog post. State data to make your insights plausible, find
accurate data to avoid contradictions, and most of all, be cautious with what you write.

Blogging allows you to share information about your business and its services but it also allows
you to share opinions and thoughts on certain topics. It is, undeniably, a great way to create a
personality for your brand by making it more credible and approachable. But whether you’ve just
started a fresh new blog or you’re already a rising blogger, it is crucially vital to think before you
post. Just following these provided steps and tips is not enough. One must ensure the data that
underpins the shared content, or the impact it might have on the diverse audience.

Bloggers play an important role in the creation and dissemination of public knowledge. This role
entails the obligation to be fair, honest, and respectful not only to your fellow individuals in
society but also to facts. Words and images are powerful weapons that should be used with the
utmost care. When writing blogs, present the facts as they are, even if you disagree with them.
You must uphold the truth, even if that means admitting you were wrong.

Be critical of everything, even yourself.
