A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of various methods of
conditioning that develops health-related fitness components for
efficient performance.
B. Performance Standards The learner designs a conditioning program that will develop health-
related fitness components (i.e. aerobic capacity, strength, and
flexibility).
C. Learning Competencies / The learner… explains the principles of exercise training

Learning Episode 1:
A. MOTIVATION
1. Presentation Today, we are going to explain the principles of exercise training
2. Importance It is important to explain the principles of exercise training because a
physically educated person demonstrates understanding of
movement concepts, principles, strategies and tactics as they apply
to the learning and performance of physical activities.
3. Formative Assessment At the end of the lesson, each of you will explain the principles of
exercise training through making a Workout Plan.
B. PROBE AND RESPOND

ACCRONYM
SPORR
S – SPECIFITY
P – PROGRESSION
O – OVERLOAD
R – REVERSIBILITY
R -RECOVERY

Specificity –the training must be specific to your sport or the aspect of

fitness you want to improve
Progression –the increase in the amount of training. Start slowly and
gradually increase the amount of exercise and keep overloading.
Overload –to improve your training you have to work your body harder
than it normally would
Reversibility –any adaptation that takes place as a result of training will be
reversed when you stop training.

FITT – the FITT principle are used to help plan training sessions over short,
medium and long periods of time.
Frequency –How often you should exercise?
Intensity – How hard you exercise?
Time – How long you exercise for?
Type – What training exercise you do?
