1. Introduction
1.1 General term

This manual includes necessary contents, especially machine alignment and calibration, of when production and
installation of machine. The user must acknowledge the appropriate ways to protect oneself from the potential
danger that could occur at any time, and be aware of the condition of the product that can cause danger.

2. Device connection
2.1 PAPAYA_REC program and how to connect with machine

1) “C:/GENORAY/PAPAYA”. Inside of the folder, find PAPAYA_REC.exe and execute the file.

Please make sure to check Panoramaic detector option DRS for uPano detector.
Please make sure to check Equipment option PAPAYA 3Ds ENT for PAPAYA 3D ENT

4) After execution of the machine alignment program, push [Connect]


button where it is located at middle upper side and connecting program with machine.

3. Preparation process
3.1 How to run the program

1) Click “Calibration Wizard” to run it.

3.2 Preparing

1) When Calibration Wizard is activated the following screen will appear.


2) Remove Driving, Tank, Gantry, and Detector Cover before machine alignment and modification.

3) Select “Preparing2”tab and it shows how to remove “Chinrest cover”

4. Alignment & Calibration


4.1 Step1 : Set up the gantry reference positioning

1) After select Step1, you should align the side of gantry moving block and driving block.
2) Input kVp offer value in No.3(exposure condition offset) with refer to No.2 shown in the below picture.
3) Click “Set current position” for setting up Y-axis starting point.
4) After complete “5” setting, its value will appear on the bottom of the screen.
5) The value will be Y-axis starting point.

4.2 Step2 : Set up the angle of gantry rotation reference positioning

These tools use for machine’s alignment of rotating degree to starting point.

Theta Jig SD-Line Jig Ball Phantom

1) Select “Step2” tab.


2) Fix “Theta Jig” to driving side.
3) Adjust the gantry part meets “Theta Jig” and parallel each other.
4) Click “ Set current position” to save the Gantry reference position to Main B/D.
5) After the data saves, the value will be written on the red circle marked 2.

6) According to above picture, “SD-Line Jig” and “Ball Phantom” are installed on machine. And loose bolts for
Chinrest in which are fixing chinrest.
7) Set up the height of Ball Phantom to be aligned by moving SD-Line Jig ruler.
8) By pushing “0°” button, making perpendicular between rotating part and driving part.
9) SD-Line Jig line and Ball Phantom’s reference line need to be matched by turning ‘Ball phantom’ stage’s knob
and move ‘Ball phantom’s location. After then, tight the bolts of Chinrest part for fixing.
10) Click “180°” button. Then the rotating part move to 180°.
11) If, at 0° location and 180° location, “SD-Line Jig” is not on same location, on adjusted “Ball phantom’s
reference line and “SD-line jig’s line that needs to be located by turning each knob and locating them to the
middle of “SD-line jig’s locations of 0° and 180°.
12) By repeating the above steps to reduce the errors.

13) Tight the bolts in the red circle below for fixing “Chinrest part”.

Tighten bolts in this part

14) Make “Gantry” position at 90° and then “SD-Line Jig” line meet the center of “Ball Phantom” by using
Left/Right chinrest button.
15) Click “Set X-Axis Center” button for setting the center of X-axis.
16) After completing data, the value will appear on the bottom of the screen.
17) This value is X-axis reference line.

18) After checking “Ball Phantom” stage ruler’s value, put this value into the blank marked 1 in red circle.
19) Click “Set Chinrest Y-Axis offset”

When you click “Help (Guide Image)”, the instruction will appear to teachhow to check the
ruler value from Ball Phantom stage.

4.3 Step3 : Detector Alignment

These tools used for the detector Alignment.

3) Fix “Detector Align Jig” according to the picture .


4) Adjust the stage of Detector Align Jig as  to meet the detector Base part.
5) If the detector Align Jig and Detector Base are not parallel, loose some bolts and adjust the detector base part
aspicture.
6) After fixing the part, remove the detector plate in the Yellow line. Please refer to the following picture.

7) Put “20” in the blank marked 1 and click “Move Detector V”.
8) After clicking, thedetector move to 20mm upper side
9) Select marked 3, Pin offset 20mm, in the following picture, and fix “Pin jig” to align Detector Base’s hole and
Moving block’s hole.
10) If the holes are not to be aligned, adjust the detector couple ring for matching them.
11) After removing “Pin jig”, click “Set current position” according to No.4. The value will be saved as you can see
in the blanks marked 5.

4.4 Step4 : Laser Alignment

This tool uses for “Laser Alignment”

Laser Jig

1) Select “Step4”
2) Click “Move init position” button to set up the machine for laser alignment.
3) Install “Ball Phantom” on the Chinrest part. After then, adjust Midsagittal and Canine’s laser positions to meet
the guide line in the Laser jig according to marked “A” below.
4) Set F/R laser behind the top of detector and click “Set current position”.
5) After completing, the value will be set in the blank No. 4.

4.5 Designation of detector rotation and chinrest height.

These tools use for setting the chinrest of height

Ball Phantom Pin Jig

1) Select “Step5” tab.


2) Like the below picture’s Figure1, attach Ball Phantom in Chinrest, place Canine laser in the marked part, click
No.2 shown in the picture.
3) Click No.3 shown in the picture and take an exposure, Check if the center ball in Ball Phantom is correspond
with red circle.
4) When clicking No.4 shown in the picture, the values of detector rotation and chinrest are inputted.

Move Cu Filter to right side → If the value is higher than initial value.
Move Cu Filter to left side → If the value is lower than initial value.

The up position of Ball Phantom ->It is higher than standard value.


The down position of Ball Phantom ->It is lower than standard value.

Please be caution when adjusting the height of chinrest.

5) As like the Packing Position Set in the picture, adjust chinrest U/D Block and insert Pin Jig and mate with the
hole off Block, after that remove Pin Jig.
6) Input the value of chinrest packing position after removing and clicking No.10 in the picture.
7 The inputted value is applied to No.11.whether it is correct for Cu Filter(0°) like the below picture Figure2.
3) If it is not correct, change the value of No.1 and adapt as like aCu Filter(0°) form. With that value, please input
in No.30°pulse.

Right side movement of Cu Filter -> It is higher than standard value.


Left side movement of Cu Filter ->It is lower than standard value.

4) ‘1400’ in No.1 of the picture, move Cu Filter by clicking No.2 (move filter position)
5) Check whether it is correct for Cu Filter(90°) like the below picture Figure2.
6) If it is not correct, change the value of No.1 and adapt as like aCu Filter(90°) form.
7) Click No.3(move filter position & get image) in the picture, with dragging the right mouse button check if the
panorama Cu Filter is in straight line. If it is not straight line, please adjust it.
8) With that value, input in No.4(90°pulse) of picture, click No.5 (Calc. Coef. & Set Filter), input the value of Cu
Filter.
9) The Cu Filter value of No.6 in the picture is inputted.

Be careful that the x-ray is released during the Cu Filter Alignment process.

4.7 Step6 : Set the height and width of Collimator

These tools use for setting the height and width of Collimator.

(-) Driver ‘
Collimator Jig

1) Select “Step6” tab.


2) Click “Move init position” for adjusting the position of blade of collimator.
3) Put “Collimator jig” into the collimator.
4) The top of blade motor to meet the top of collimator jig by using (-) Driver. Make sure to have a little gap
between jig and blade for removing the jig later.
5) The left side of blade motor meets the left side of collimator jig by using (-) Driver. Make sure to have a little
gap between jig and blade for removing the jig later.
6) After fixing the blade motors, remove the collimator Jig.
7) Click “Calc. Panoramic Collimator Position” and put “Pano Collimator” value.
8) After putting the value, it will appear on the blanks marked 4.

4.8 Collimator setting


4.8.1 Step7 : Pano Collimator position setting

For Panoramic Collimator process, and if the Equipment Option is for ‘PAPAYA 3Ds ENT’, it is not necessary
process.

1) Select“Step7” tab.
2) Click“Find Collimator position” to set up the location of the collimator.
3) After complete the process, the Panorama collimator value appears as “A”in the picture.
4) Click “OK” button and then click “Set Position & Get Image”.

X-ray exposure should be necessary for this step.

5) An image will be displayed as same as“P” below.


6) In this condition, if the collimator’s left or right position is not well found, adjust LR Posvalue to correct it.
7) If the collimator’s up side or down side position is not well found, adjust UD Posto correct it.
8) After finding appropriate value, click “Set Position & Get Image” to save “Pano Collimator” value.

LR Pos → Adjust X-ray’s right / left exposure direction. ((+) is for moving right side and (-) is for moving left
side.)
UD Pos → Adjust X-ray’s up / down exposure direction. ((+) is for moving upper side, (-) is for moving down
side)

4.9 Step8 :Pano Detector Calibration (Detector model : XID-C15DP)


4.9.1 Detector Model : I3

1) Select “Step8”
2) Click “Auto” for processing “Pano Calibration”
3) After complete “Pano Calibration” step, the message will appear.

4.9.2 Detector Model :Extor or Dualray s (uPano)

1) Select Step8
2) Select the article related to Preset Option like the No.1 in the picture.
2-1) For UPano, select [PANO_CT_ROI_BANK_0].
2-2) For Extor Pano, select [PANO_PANORAMA].
3) For exposure, please click No.2 (Check All) and No.3 (Exposure).
4) When finishing the exposure, Avg.Level for whole image and Avg for piece of images are shown. In addition,
when appearing Saturation pop-up like No.7 after appearing the Avg value, please retake an exposure by
adjusting condition.
5) After finish of all exposure and Avg. value marking, compare it with the range of Ref. Level(No.4)

6) If Air Set 0~4 Avg.Level value is within the range of Ref. level. Verify the storage path and click No.8(create).
7) If Avg.Level value is higher or lower than the range of Ref.Level ,change the value of ‘kVp’ and ‘mA’, adjust for
correct range.
8) After adapt to Ref.Level standard range, click No.8(create) and complete it.
9) When finish the process, the content of ‘Parameters are generated’ is shown.
10) For UPano, after selecting “PANO_CT_ROI_BANK_1”, and “PANO_CT_ROI_BANK_2” in No.1 , go on to the next
step like above method.

Do not place objects on the Chinrest Block when process for Panoramic Detector Calibration.

If the gap between output value and initial value is lower than 50 → change mA value

4.10 Step9 : Auto Shading Calibration

Auto shading Calibration is not required if the equipment option is PAPAYA 3Ds ENT

1) Select “Step9”
2) Click “Auto shading calibration”
3) After complete “Shading calibration” step, the message will appear. Then click “OK”
4) Totally three message appear after this step. Click “OK” for next step.

4.11 Step10 : How to check Pano Alignment

These tools use for checking panoramic alignment.


Ball Phantom Collimator Jig

1) Select “Step10”
2) Fix “Ball Phantom” on the chinrest and click “Confirm”.
3) After Confirming, align canine laser to the frond reference side of ball Phantom by moving Y-axis.
4) Click “Ready & Shot” to take an image of Ball Phantom.
5) After getting an image of ball Phantom, the screen shows the image as below.
6) Select the third line and draw four lines on the image.
7) After drawing four lines, If the message, marked 4, shows “PASS” three time, the panoramic alignment and
calibration will be finished.
8) If any “FAIL” message occurs, back to STEP2, STEP3, and STEP7 with instruction given.

4.11.1 Step11 : CT Collimator position setting

1) Select "Step11” tab


2) Select “D35 and H40” and click “Set Position & Get Image on CT”. The image should appear over the red line
as same as below picture.
3) If the image is smaller than the red line, adjust value from the tabs marked 8.
4) All the F.O.V sizes, D40XH50, D60XH60, D70XH70, D80XH80 D140XH80, and D140XH140, D160XH80,
D160XH140 should be adjusted as same as above step.

LR Pos→ Adjust Right / Left ((+) to right, (-) to left)


UD Pos→ Adjust Up / Down ((+) to up, (-) to down)
W → Adjust the width of Right / Left ((+) to be wider, (-) to be smaller)
H → Adjust the height of X-ray exposure ((+) to be taller,(-) to be smaller)

X-ray exposure should be necessary for this step.

4.12 Step12 : CT Detector Calibration

1) Select Step12
2) Select Full Scan CT in No.1 of the picture.
3) Click ‘Check All’ in No.2 of picture, retake an exposure by clicking No.3(exposure).
4) When finishing the exposure, Avg.Level for whole image and Avg for piece of images are shown No.5 & No.6
in the graph. In addition, when appearing Saturation pop-up after appearing the Avg value, please retake an
exposure by adjusting condition.
5) After finish of all exposure and Avg. value marking, compare it with the range of Ref. Level(No.4)
6) If Air Set 0~4 Avg.Level value is within the range of Ref. level. Verify the storage path and click No.7(create).
7) If Avg.Level value is higher or lower than the range of Ref.Level ,change the value of ‘kVp’ and ‘mA’ in No.7,
adjust for correct range, and complete FullScan CT Calibration by clicking (create).

Both Full Scan_CT and Full Scan Stitch_CT in CT Detector Calibration are not required if the
equipment option is papaya 3Ds ENT

During CT detector calibration, any object should not be on the chinrest Block.

If the gap between output value and initial value is lower than 50→ change mA value
If the gap between output value and initial valueis higher than 50→ change kVpvalue

8) After complete the process, the message “Parameters are generated” appears.
9) Select “HalfScan_CT” and process “HalfScan_CT Calibration” with same method above mentioned.
10) Select “FullScanStitch_CT” and process “FullScanStitch_CT Calibration” with same method above mentioned.
11) Select no.1 [FullScanEX_CT] as shown below. Then process FullScanEX_CT Calibration with described above.
12) Select no.1 [FullScanEXStitch_CT] as shown below. Then process FullScanEXStitch_CT with described above.

4.13 Step13 :How to take an image of Half GCP Phantom

These tools use for Half GCP process.

Base Plate Half_GCP Phantom

1) Select “Step13”tab
2) Attach the Base Plate in the Chinrest like ‘A’ of picture, Use the bolts located under the base plate after
adjusting horizontally, and align the line for Base Plate to the standard of Half GCP Phantom line.

3) Click “0° Move & Get Image” to start to get an image.


4) After getting an image, theimage of Half_GCP Phantom appears.
5) Make the same length of “D” and “E” which is the distance from green line to Bead. Change “Gantry Y Axis
Start Offset” value to find the appropriate position.

Gantry Y Axis Start Offset → Put Plus(+) value to move left side.
Gantry Y Axis Start Offset → Put Minus(-) value to move right side.

6) After the adjustment, check the box of “Half Scan Stitch” and click “Confirm”.
7) After confirming it, click “Ready & Shot” to take an image of “Half Scan_GCP Phantom”
8) When the shooting is complete, click “Calc, GCP-EV” for running“evGCP” program.

4.14 Half GCP steps

1) Run“evGCP” and click “Bead Detecting Test”


2) Select “2st for seperating layer”
3) According to the red box marked 3, set the mouse curser between two layers and left click.
4) After clicking, a green line will appear between two layers.
5) Click “Process” to start the GCP steps.

6) After finishing GCP process, the screen will appear as below. Then click “Save” and “OK” to complete “Half_GCP”

4.15 Step13 :How to take an image of Full GCP Phantom

These tools use for taking an image of full GCP Phantom.

Base Plate Full_GCP Phantom

1) Attach the Base Plate in the Chinrest like ‘A’ of picture. After adjusting horizontally, attach the full GCP
Phantom in Base Plate correspondently for the line.
2) Click on No.1 [0 ° Move and Get Image] shown in the below picture and take an exposure.

4.17 Step14 : HU Calibration

When taking an exposure HU Phantom, The below plate and

Phantom are needed.

Base Plate HU GCP Phantom

1) After selecting Step 14, attach the base plate to the Chinrest and adjust it horizontally.
2) After selecting No.1(Half Scan) /Select No.1 (Half Scan), click No.2 (Confirm), the path is set automatically.
3) Process the exposure by clicking No.3(Ready & Shot) after confirming.
When finishing the exposure, reconstruction will proceed automatically, and the reconstructed slice will be
displayed on the screen.
4) Input ‘40’ in Edit text of No.4 (Slice index), click No.5 (Rec).
5) Click No.6 (Insert HU), drag the mouse like No.7, make the range of HU.
6) After making the range of HU from A to D like above way, click No.8 (Calibrate HU), and the result values of
HU in the left under part are shown.

This manual includes necessary contents, especially machine alignment and calibration, of when production and
installation of machine. The user must acknowledge the appropriate ways to protect oneself from the potential
danger that could occur at any time, and be aware of the condition of the product that can cause danger.

Before reviewing this Appendix 2, read “Appendix 1 Align & Calibration –Pano/CT” and familiar with all calibration
steps first.

4.1 Step1 :Set up the detector’s reference positioning

This tool uses for processing this stage.

Pin Jig

1) Select “Step1” and match Detector Moving Block’s hole with the reference point of Cephalo Base.
2) After then, make them to be aligned by the Pin Jig and then remove the Pin Jig. Select “Set current position”.
3) When you click “Set current position”, Result detector offset value will be appeared.
4) This value is a reference position of the detector.

4.2 Step2 :1st Collimator’s reference positioning

1) Select “Step2” tab


2) Click “Find collimator position” to find the ceph collimator’s values automatically.
3) The message will appear and click “OK” to save values.
4) The value of LR Pos will be updated.
5) Click “Set Position & Get Image” to get an image. Then check the collimator is in a good position as “A”
sample on the picture below.
6) If the image comes up as “B” sample on the picture, add up some values on the current value of UD Pos. If
the images comes up as “C” ,take away some values from the current value of UD Pos.

LR Pos → Add up value from the current value to move right side, take away value from the
current value to move to left side.
UD Pos → Add up value from the current value to move upside, take away value from the
current value to move to down side.

The Pano collimator setting is perfectly complete before starting 1st Collimator’s reference
positioning process.

X-ray exposure should be necessary for 1st Collimator’s reference positioning.

1) Select “Step3”
2) Click “Find 2nd Collimator position” to find “2nd Collimator” value.

and adjust the position of Lead.

1) Click Step4
2) Select [CEPH_CEPHALO] in No.1 of the below picture.
3) Click [Check All] in No.2, take an exposure by clicking No.3 [Exposure].
4) When finishing the exposure, Avg.Level for whole image in No.4 and Avg for piece of images in ‘status’ are
shown. In addition, when appearing Saturation pop-up like No.5 after appearing the Avg value, please retake
an exposure by adjusting condition.
5) After all exposure and marking of Avg.value are finished, compare them to the value of Ref.Level.
6) If Air Set 0~4 Avg.Level value is within the range of Ref. level. Verify the storage path and click No.7(create).
7) If Avg.Level value is higher or lower than the range of Ref.Level ,change the value of ‘kVp’ and ‘mA’ in No.8,
adjust for correct range.
8) After adapt to Ref.Level standard range, click No.7(create) and complete it.
9) When finish the process, the content of ‘Parameters are generated’ is shown.

1) Select “Step5”
2) Fold Nasal post parts.
3) Make the rotating part to AP position and remove Ear posts.
4) Click “Auto scan calibration” to start the detector calibration process.
5) After getting an image, click “OK” on the message windows.
6) For taking the Lateral image, click “Auto scan FFC calibration” to get another image.
7) After complete the shooting, click “OK” to complete the calibration process.

4.7 Step6 : Ear rod and Cephalo Calibration reference positioning

1) Select “Step6” tab.


2) Attach the Ear rod.
2) After change Cephalo rotation part to Lateral direction, click No.1(confirm) of the picture.
3) After confirming, click No.2(ready & shot) and get the images.
4) After exposure, select No.3 (Cross1(Blue)), select the one center of two circles like No.4, select (Cross2(Yello)),
select the other center of circle.
5) After selecting Cross(1,2), the ‘PASS’ message is shown like No.5. If the ‘FAIL’ message is shown, retake an
exposure by clicking No.6 (Help) with a guidance.

Move Ear rod to Lateral direction and take an exposure.

When selecting the center of circle, place the cross form within the range of the center for circle.

6) If the ‘PASS’ message is not shown, cancel the articles for ‘A’(Ear rod), Nasal positioner, rotation part cover with
referring to Help button.
7) After removing, loosen a screw ‘B’ a bit, move rotation part side to side, attach Ear rod and retake an exposure.
8) Select Cross (1, 2) to select the result value for PASS, Secure the screws of the B shown in the figure below.
9) After pressing the laser light button, loosen a screw ‘C’ a bit, adjust the laser level horizontally, place the height
in the middle part of the Ear rod hall for the laser, and fix the screw.

Take care not to bend the photo sensor and bracket when moving the rotating rotation.

6) If the position of the Ear rod is indicated by PASS, check if the quality of the printed image is shown as the
image shown ‘good’ below. If similar, the Cephalo calibration is completed without defect.
7) If the image is abnormal, proceed to step 5 again.

When checking the position of Ear rod and Cephalo Calibration, the x-ray could be exposed, please be
careful.
