INTRODUCTION

MIRCOSOFT COMPANY
Microsoft was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen on 4 April 1975 to develop and sell
BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800. Microsoft quickly rose to dominate the personal
computer operating system market with MS-DOS in the mid-1980s followed by Microsoft
Windows. The company's 1986 initial public offering (IPO) and subsequent rise in its share
price, created three billionaires and an estimated 12,000 millionaires among Microsoft
employees. The company began to redefine its offerings and expand its product line into
computer networking and the World Wide Web. Microsoft is the biggest software company
in the world. Its best known software products are the Microsoft Windows line of operating
systems, the Microsoft Office suite, and the Internet Explorer and Edge web browsers.

Microsoft customers range from consumers and small businesses to the world's biggest
companies and government agencies. Although it has lost the majority of the total operating
system market to Android, Microsoft still enjoys a commanding position in the markets for
operating systems compatible with IBM PCs and office software suites in 2015.  In addition,
the company creates a wide variety of additional consumer and business software for
desktops, laptops, tabs, gadgets, and servers, including Internet search (with Bing), the digital
services market (through MSN), mixed reality (HoloLens), cloud computing (Azure), and
software development (Visual Studio). In 2000, Steve Ballmer succeeded Bill Gates as CEO,
and he later developed the "devices and services" strategy.  With the purchase of Danger Inc.
by Microsoft in 2008, the debut of the Microsoft Surface tablet computer line in June 2012,
and the formation of Microsoft Mobile with the purchase of Nokia's devices and services
division, these events came to pass. The company has reduced its emphasis on hardware and
increased its usage of cloud computing since Satya Nadella became CEO in 2014. This shift
has helped the company's stock achieve its highest value since December 1999.

In 2018, Microsoft recaptured its title as the most valuable publicly traded business in the
world after being dethroned by Apple in 2010. The title of the most valuable publicly traded
business in the world was recovered by Microsoft in 2018. After Apple and Amazon,
Microsoft became the third American public firm to have a market cap of $1 trillion or more
when it did so in April 2019. Microsoft will have the fourth-highest worldwide brand
valuation as of 2022. Microsoft has been under fire for its monopolistic business methods, as
well as for issues with its software's usability, reliability, and security.
HISTORY

BILL GATES PAUL G ALLEN

Two childhood friends from Seattle, Bill Gates and Paul G. Allen, adapted the popular
mainframe computer programming language BASIC for use on the Altair, an early personal
computer (PC), in 1975. A short while later, Gates and Allen established Microsoft, naming it
after the phrases software and microcomputer. They improved BASIC and created other
programming languages over the course of the following few years. For its first personal
computer, the IBM PC, International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) commissioned
Microsoft to create the necessary software, or operating system, in 1980. MS-DOS is the
operating system that Microsoft acquired from another business, tweaked, and renamed
(Microsoft Disk Operating System). In 1981, IBM debuted the PC together with MS-DOS.
Microsoft also overtook longtime rivals Lotus and WordPerfect to take the top spot in
productivity software, including word processors and spreadsheet tools.

In 1985, Microsoft established its electronic publishing branch, which was already well-
known for the popularity of its multimedia encyclopaedia, Encarta. With a variety of goods
and services, most notably the Microsoft Network and MSNBC, it also joined the information
services and entertainment industries (a joint venture with the National Broadcasting
Company, a major American television network, which began in 1995 and ended in 2012)
Because of this, by the middle of the 1990s Microsoft, which had become a publicly owned
firm in 1986 was among the most influential and successful businesses in American history.
Astonishingly, it routinely generated profits of 25 cents for every dollar of sales. For the first
time, the company's net income exceeded $2 billion in its fiscal year 1996. This unbroken run
of success

lasted even throughout the Great Recession of 2007–09 (by fiscal year 2009, its net income
had increased to more than $14 billion). Rivals, some of whom alleged that the company's
actions broke American laws against unfair competition, were enraged and jealous of the
company's rapid expansion despite the fact that it occurred in a fiercely competitive and
rapidly evolving market. Microsoft and its supporters replied that, far from restricting
competition and technological innovation, their success had promoted both, and that their
software had steadily become more affordable and useful.

About Logo

First Logo
Bill Gates and Paul Allen, two of Microsoft's founders, designed the business's initial logo.
It's possible that the logo was produced using a computer language. It was created using the
company name in a rather unique sans serif typeface and effectively captures the Disco and
1970s eras. The letters are formed by numerous 'concentric' lines, giving them a 'depth effect'
to some viewers. Additionally, it is the only Microsoft logo with two lines.

Current Logo

Microsoft's logo had a significant update in 2012. The Microsoft staff developed
the logo that is still in use today after multiple sessions. The Segoe UI font took
the place of the former logo's bold and italic elements. However, what sets it
apart from other logos is the use of a vibrant symbol. A window formed by four
squares of various colours clearly resembles Windows, one of the company's
key products. Some claim that the blue square stands in for Word or Windows,
the red square for PowerPoint or the Office suite, the green square for the Xbox
or the Excel console, and the yellow square for Outlook or Bing. In summary, it
appears that this logo is here to stay.

Mission and Vision of Microsoft

MISSION
The corporate mission statement of Microsoft outlines the company's global reach and gives a
rough notion of its value proposition. However, the corporate purpose does not explicitly
explain the company's essence or what it performs as a provider of online services and
information technology. The mission statement should, in theory, give a broad overview of
the nature of the company, its operations, and its goals. In this instance, a suggestion is to add
information about how Microsoft fulfils its corporate vision to its corporate mission statement
in order to strengthen it. The mission statement can declare, for instance, that the business
offers information technology to empower people and organisations. Additionally, Microsoft
can cite quick innovation as a plan for creating the goods that consumers want.

VISION

The principles of the corporate mission statement are clearly reflected in Microsoft's
corporate vision statement, which also highlights the target market and the value of the
product to customers. The corporate vision, however, is not specific enough to direct the
strategic growth of the business. The ideal vision statement should outline Microsoft's
preferred future state. It is suggested that the current corporate vision statement be updated to
include details on the direction the company is taking and how this future might be realised.
This suggestion aims to offer greater direction for the technology company's strategy
formulation. The targeted market leadership position and the broad strategic goals to achieve
it for the company can both be found in Microsoft's corporate vision statement.

Objective of the study

oems we distribute software program application utility software thru oems that pre-install

1. Distribution and selling

Many businesses who use enterprise agreements to licence our goods and services do so
directly with us, with help from solution integrators, independent software vendors, web
agencies, and developers that provide businesses with licencing advice ("Enterprise Software
Advisors"). Additionally, organisations obtain indirect licences for our goods and services,
primarily from distributors, value-added resellers, OEMs, system builder channels, and
retailers. LARs are primarily involved with large businesses, distributors resale largely to
VARs, and VARs typically serve small- and medium-sized enterprises, even though each
type of reselling partner reaches organisations of various sizes. Enterprise Software Advisors
often serve as resellers for our other licencing plans, such as the Select Plus and Open
licencing programmes covered under "Licensing Option" and are authorised as LARs. Ingram
Micro and Tech Data are a couple of our distributors, and CDW, Dell, Insight Enterprises,
and Software House International are some of our biggest resellers. A global network of
channel partners delivering specialised services and vertical solutions licences our Microsoft
Dynamics software to businesses. We typically use independent non-exclusive distributors,
licenced resellers, replicators, and retail establishments to distribute our retail packaged
products. These goods are largely acquired by private consumers from retail establishments
like Wal-Mart, Dixons, and Microsoft Stores. Our hardware, which includes Surface, Xbox,
and PC accessories, is sold through Microsoft Stores and independent retailers. In addition to
soliciting orders from distributors and resellers, our network of field sales agents and field
support staff also offers product training and sales assistance.

2. Online sources
Although client-based software will continue to play a significant role in our business, we are
progressively providing cloud-based services to customers in order to offer value. Through
Bing, MSN portals and channels, Microsoft Office Web Apps, Office 365, Windows Phone
Marketplace, Xbox LIVE, Outlook.com, Skype, and Windows Store, we provide consumers
online content and services. Additionally, we offer business users paid cloud services like
Office 365, which includes online versions of Office, Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, and
Yammer, Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, Windows Azure, and Windows Intune. Our
online advertising platform, which provides options for advertisers and publishers, as well as
subscription content and updates from Microsoft Developer Networks, recurring product
updates, and online technical help for our partners, are other online services we provide.

Scope of Microsoft
Microsoft created the operating system called Windows. You are only able to utilise a
computer thanks to the operating system. Windows is the most widely used operating system
in the world since it comes preloaded on the majority of new personal computers (PCs).You
can carry out all kinds of commonplace operations on your computer thanks to Windows.
You can use Windows, for instance, to surf the web, check your email, edit digital images,
play games, listen to music, and much more. Because it provides access to productivity tools
like calendars, word processors, and spreadsheets, Windows is also widely used in offices.

I'm assuming you already know that Microsoft Flow will eventually replace SharePoint's
workflows. It is a very potent platform for process automation and integration that aids in
bridging the gap between numerous Microsoft services and numerous other services. You will
begin building actions and conditions as you begin designing flows and analysing the
interface because those concepts are intuitive. Use an action if you want to DO anything. Use
a condition to determine IF you should take a certain action. Got it. However, you soon
become aware of this additional choice, "Add a Scope." What effect has that? You are aware
that, similar to Flow, workflows in SharePoint 2010/2013/2016/Online via SharePoint
Designer have actions, conditions, and what you refer to as "Steps."
SWOT Analysis

Strengths

 Prestigious software firm - Microsoft is without a doubt the industry leader in terms of
software programme technological expertise, particularly in cloud computing. It is
both the largest Windows OS developer and the top cloud provider in the world. It
provides commercial cloud services through Dynamics 365, Office 365, and Azure. In
the third quarter of fiscal 2020, Microsoft Teams' daily users increased from 44
million to 75 million in just six weeks and by 110% over the previous quarter.

 The second-greatest company in the world based on market valuation - Microsoft is

the largest company in the world with the largest market share. With a 3% factor gain
among the five largest cloud provider providers (Microsoft, AWS, Google, Oracle), it
also holds the most market share.
 Addition of more modern SKUs (Stock Keeping Units) - Microsoft recently expanded
its manufacturer inventory with newer SKUs. This includes Microsoft 365, which
combines Windows 10 and Office 365. A multi-billion dollar enterprise,
M365.Reputable Brand with unwavering customer loyalty 60 million Office 365
business subscribers are among Microsoft's 1.2 billion Office users. It undoubtedly
has the most devoted customer base. Customers remain brand loyal because they trust
the company.

 Large Market Capitalization - Microsoft is one of the world's largest high-tech

companies, with a market capitalization of 776 billion US dollars. According to
market value, Microsoft was the third-most valuable brand in the world in 2019 and is
listed as the second-largest company in the world in 2020.

Weakness

 Overexposure to the PC market - As a result of vendor price increases and exchange

rate volatility, PC shipment volumes frequently experience declines. Microsoft is now
in a precarious situation as a result.

 Theft committed through cybercrime - Microsoft is now more exposed as a result of

the rise in cybercrime cases. According to reports, hackers have repeatedly attempted
to compromise the Windows Operating System's cybersecurity.

 Microsoft has struggled to increase the sales of its hardware devices, such as the
Surface Pro phones and PCs, due to a lack of innovation. While Apple, Google, and
Amazon are rapidly blazing new technological paths, it has lagged behind in
innovation.

 Lack of market leadership in the internet browser sector - Microsoft is losing market
share in the sector while Google, Safari, and Firefox gain market share.
 Unfair business practises - Slack Technologies complained to the European
Commission over Microsoft's anti-competitive actions. A federal appeals court in the
US is currently reviewing an appeal from Improved Search LLC, which has the right
to resurrect a lawsuit against Microsoft for violating a patent on search engine
technology.

Opportunities

 Growth of the cloud-based industry - In recent years, its cloud-based services have
experienced tremendous growth and success. Microsoft has the chance to grow its
cloud business as a result. Microsoft stated that it will be releasing a new version
of its cloud-based software in May 2020 to meet the demands of healthcare
businesses.

 Artificial intelligence and innovation - Microsoft has a huge opportunity in

numerous cutting-edge fields, including game technology and AI. Microsoft might
gain the upper hand by making investments in these areas.

 Partnerships and Acquisitions - Microsoft should concentrate on forming new

strategic partnerships and alliances. The corporation will be able to increase its
market share as a result. A lucrative option for Microsoft will be to acquire
significant high-tech companies. Microsoft was awarded a five-year contract to
provide business software to Coca-Cola in April 2020.

 Industry for smartphones and tablets - Microsoft has a great opportunity in this
quickly expanding sector. It can profit from the rising demand for these goods.

 Cost leadership approach - By making its goods available at low prices, Microsoft
can increase its sales and revenue. Additionally, it might stop hackers from using
its software improperly.
 Remote work solutions - Solutions that allow people to work remotely from
anywhere in the globe have become more popular as a result of recent
occurrences. As of April 2020, Microsoft Teams, the company's remote work
service, has 75 million members and was already the market leader. Microsoft
outperformed quarterly projections for Q2 of 2020 thanks to revenue from Teams.
For long-term growth, it can further exploit Teams.

 Diversify portfolio -Increase stability by diversifying your business by providing a

wider range of services. Microsoft recently revealed that it is considering
purchasing Interactive Entertainment, a division of Warner Bros. dedicated to the
gaming industry. Warner Bros., owned by AT&T, is already in talks to sell its
gaming business for around $4 billion.

Threats

 Related complaints of the workforce: Microsoft's 2018 workforce diversity figures

revealed an imbalance in the workforce it recruited. Due to the poor employment
of women and people of colour, the company's HR policy has come under harsh
criticism.

 Gay reference controversy - Microsoft has received a lot of flak for its Xbox Live
game service because of the gay reference scandal. The firm deems references to
homosexuality and gay people to be "unsuitable" and "offensive" for other people,
hence they cannot be included in the Gamertag or user profile.

 Aggressive Competition - Microsoft and Google are in a fierce battle for market
share with Apple. The established positions of these businesses may pose a
challenge to Microsoft's market share. To entice customers away from Microsoft,
Google increased competition for remote work in June 2020 by integrating video-
call capabilities, editing facilities, and other technologies in Gmail.
 Consumer preferences evolving - The markets for laptops, cellphones, and
notepads are very popular. Microsoft holds a small percentage in these markets.

 Open source initiatives - Many new open source initiatives have successfully
joined the market, offering comparable services for free, similar to Linux OS and
Open Source Office. The fact that Microsoft charges a premium for these products
could be a threat.

 Politicized contracts - Favoritism on the part of the government erodes trust.

Microsoft recently defeated Amazon to win a $10 billion Pentagon deal. Amazon
was allegedly better qualified, but despite claims from critics and a number of
officials, the Trump administration impacted the decision to award Microsoft as a
result of the president's conflict with Amazon owner Jeff Bezos.

 Anti- encryption drive - Governments and child welfare organisations have put
pressure on Microsoft and other computer companies to do away with consumer
encryption technologies, which give child sex predators carte blanche to operate
online. Although Microsoft and other industry leaders promised to standardise the
disclosure of the offenders, many governments and child welfare organisations
demand more.

Marketing Strategies

STP
Let's look at each of these in more depth. STP, also known as segmentation,
targeting, and positioning, is a tool that businesses may use to segment the market,
sell their products to the targeted audience, and build positive customer
perceptions.

Segmentation

STP begins with segmentation, in which the business divides the market into
distinct categories based on many factors like demographic division, Geographical
division, segmentation depending on location, etc.
Microsoft divides the enormous audience into small segments using demographic
and behavioural segmentation. Microsoft markets goods like operating systems
and office systems via demographic segmentation. Microsoft markets goods like
Windows mobile phones, Windows servers, etc. through behavioural
segmentation.

Targeting

When segmenting our market, we establish many segments. When targeting, we

choose one of these segments to offer our product to.Microsoft aims its vast range
of goods at everybody who uses a computer or laptop. However, due to the level
of competition in the mobile and tools market, Microsoft cannot target every user
of a mobile phone.

Positioning
Positioning is the process by which a business attempts to create a favourable
impression of itself in the minds of the target audience that was chosen while
targeting the stage. Microsoft has begun to pivot in order to reposition itself.
Changes have already been made to all of their service logos. Let's see what
Microsoft does to promote itself online after examining the method it employs to
promote its products in the digital age.

Social media presence

Social media is a platform where companies like Microsoft can reach the largest
audience in the modern digital age, where the majority of individuals living in
urban areas use social media. As can be seen in the photographs above, Microsoft
has retained a sizable readership on its social media accounts.

It has 14129883 followers and 14125305 likes on Facebook and 3.2 million
Instagram followers.
By posting frequently, Microsoft has been able to attract such a large readership.
Facebook and Instagram's algorithms state that a page's reach will expand if it
consistently posts images and videos, which will eventually result in the page
gaining more followers.

Let's wrap up this blog post with the section on social media presence before
going back and reviewing what we covered.

Microsoft's 4Ps of Marketing

The following aspects make up the marketing mix, which is a combination of

The price mix of Microsoft is extensive. Let us now go through the place mix of Microsoft.

Place Mix of Microsoft

Whereas place in marketing refers to the distribution of the goods, place refers to giving the
consumer easy access.

Microsoft's official website is where the majority of its sales are made. From this website,
users can download and buy Microsoft software. Microsoft sells its hardware items at brick-
and-mortar stores as well. In addition, this technology behemoth collaborates with a number
of vendors who are positioned in key markets.

Under Price Mix, Microsoft provides the following services to its clients:

 Customers can easily select products and services from Microsoft's official website
based on their needs. Microsoft offers retail locations all over the world where
customers may use the guidance of technical advisors to make smarter decisions.
 Microsoft has approved dealers and distributors.
 Microsoft's strategically sound location mix makes its products readily available to
customers worldwide. Now let's talk about Microsoft's promotional strategy to
discover how it keeps its position at the top.
Promotional Mix of Microsoft

Promotional mix refers to the efforts made by businesses utilising promotional instruments to
reach out to a wider audience. Promotion is the marketing of items and includes aspects like
sales promotion, advertising, and many more.

With the aid of its powerful brand image, Microsoft's promotional strategy precisely
addresses its target market. It advertises its products on a number of social media sites,
including Facebook, Twitter, Google, Instagram, etc. Microsoft employs a number of
different promotional strategies, including advertising, direct marketing, and sales promotion.

maintain mutually beneficial connections with their target audiences.

Limitation and problem faces by Microsoft Company

Microsoft is the top software corporation and support system supplier in the world,
with a storied history of offering world-class office solutions, operating systems, and
other operational software to individual users, businesses, agencies, enterprises, and
even governments worldwide.

Microsoft is not immune to problems with programmes and their features, though.
Numerous grievances have been made over the years regarding Microsoft's products,
which have led to upgrades and enhancements. Even still, the problems have
persisted, leading to a variety of workarounds and repairing methods that act as a
temporary patch until Microsoft resolves the issue on its own.

 General Functionality Issues - These have been the most frequent

problems encountered by businesses and corporations that have integrated the
latest Microsoft technologies into their operational infrastructure. However,
sometimes problems might arise if the installation is not done by people or
businesses who have received certification from Microsoft.

The Solution - Work with a Microsoft-certified business Hire a reliable

provider with a Microsoft certification to install the newest systems in your
business if you require Microsoft help in the UK.
 Difficulty in Finding Applications for Windows 10 - While
Windows 10 made improvements to some of the interface problems of
Windows 8, consumers continued to have trouble finding the applications they
wanted to use on a regular basis. Users may struggle to find programmes in
Windows 10 because they do not show up as pins or icons in the start menu
unless they are activated, which takes time and frequently confuses the user.

The Solution - Simply click Start and put the name of the programme you
want to use into the search bar at the top to find it in Windows 10's start menu.
Simply click All Apps in the start menu to open all the installed applications,
and then drag the apps you frequently use to the start menu. Then, all you have
to do is perform a simple Right-Click action on each and select the Pin to Start
menu item.
 Update Reboots without Warning - Optimal performance the
Windows 10 operating system requires an online connection. This implies that
all updates are downloaded, installed, and then rebooted at random intervals as
soon as they become available. This reboot could occur suddenly, stopping or
even ending the activity you were engaged in, and occasionally even leading
to data loss, which is extremely inconvenient and annoying.

The Solution - Set to Request Reboot

Go to Settings, Update & Security, and Windows Update in that order to avoid
this. Once there, select Notify to Schedule Restart before moving on to
Advanced Options. By doing this, the operating system will request a reboot
rather than performing one automatically.
 Inability to Print after a Windows 10 Upgrade - Users who recently
upgraded to Windows 10 might have discovered that they are unable to print
Microsoft Word documents.

The Solution – Install New Drivers

Installing the most recent and updated drivers for the printer in use onto the
PC will allow it to function without a hitch. You can conduct an online search
to find the specified drivers.
 Malfunctioning MS Office 365 - When the new version to Office was
released, users of the older MS Office systems encountered a variety of
problems. Office 365 has succeeded, as evidenced. However, many businesses
and corporations that had the software installed had technical problems.

The Solution - Install Office by using a Microsoft Technical Support

Company as a fix Make sure to choose a support provider with a Microsoft
certification when you need to instal Microsoft products on the primary cloud
server. This guarantees that legitimate, licenced software is installed and that
any required updates are scheduled in a timely manner.

Microsoft Scroogled

Since Satya Nadella was named CEO, Microsoft's marketing strategy has shifted to become
less "aggressive," eschewing the kinds of advertising that directly "attacked" rivals. For
instance, in 2012, the marketing campaign "Scroogled!" notified users of Google's decision to
add paid adverts to shopping-related search results. The "Scroogled" campaign was started to
convince some Google customers to switch to Microsoft's Bing search engine, but Nadella
cancelled it and other similar campaigns in an effort to boost the company's reputation.

‘Scroogled’ marketing campaign as illustration of old-style Microsoft

marketing strategy
In other words, Satya Nadella has focused on humanising the brand and adopting a customer-
centric approach since being appointed to the top position, which has a direct impact on
Microsoft's marketing strategy.

For the fiscal years of 2018, 2017, and 2016, Microsoft's sales and marketing costs came to
USD 17,469 billion, USD 15,461 billion, and USD 14,635 billion, respectively. The internet
giant's sales and marketing costs climbed by USD2.0 billion, or 13%, in 2018 over 2017.

1. Investing in the communication of marketing message through various marketing

communication channels in an integrated manner. To reach its target consumer segment,
the technology giant integrates a variety of marketing communication channels, including
advertising, sales promotion, events and experiences, public relations, direct marketing, and
personal selling.

2. Focus on product element of the marketing mix. Put the marketing mix's product
element in the spotlight. Compared to other components of the marketing mix, the product
part of Microsoft's 4Ps of marketing receives more attention. As a result, the multinational
technology corporation has accepted the high level of customer comfort offered by its goods
and services as a differentiator for the brand.

3.Targeting customers that value effectiveness and efficiency.Microsoft's segmentation,

targeting, and positioning strategies are focused on a particular portion of the population that
values technical products and services' sophisticated features, speed, and efficiency.
Types of software application of Microsoft

MICROSOFT WORD

Microsoft created the word processing programme known as Microsoft Word. It was initially
made available on October 25, 1983, for Xenix systems under the name Multi-Tool Word.
Later versions were created for a variety of other operating systems, including SCO Unix
(1990), Microsoft Windows (1989), Atari ST (1988), OS/2 (1989), IBM PCs running DOS
(1983), Apple Macintosh running the Classic Mac OS (1985), AT&T UNIX PC (1985), and
macOS (1990). (2001). Microsoft Word versions prior to 2013 can be used on Linux by using
Wine.Word is available commercially as a stand-alone product or as a part of the Microsoft
Office software suite, which can be purchased as a permanent licence or as a monthly
subscription to Microsoft 365.
MICROSOFT POWERPOINT

PowerPoint was initially created to provide graphics for group presentations within corporate
settings, but it has since become incredibly popular in a variety of other communication
contexts, both inside and outside of the workplace. The impact of this significantly increased
use of PowerPoint has been seen as a significant shift throughout society, with strong
reactions including suggestions that it should be used less, differently, or better.Overhead
transparencies could be created using the first PowerPoint version (Macintosh 1987), and
colour 35 mm slides could be created using the second (Macintosh 1988, Windows 1990).

MICROSOFT ACCESS
Microsoft Access is a database management system (DBMS) from Microsoft that combines
the relational Access Database Engine (ACE) with a graphical user interface and software-
development tools. This version of Microsoft Access is distinct from the original Microsoft
Access, which was a 1980s telecommunications programme that provided terminal emulation
and interfaces for ease of use in accessing online services like Dow Jones, Compuserve, and
electronic mailboxes.

MICROSOFT EXCEL

Microsoft produced Microsoft Excel, a spreadsheet, for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS.
It has calculating or computing capabilities, graphing tools, pivot tables, and the Visual Basic
for Applications macro programming language (VBA). The Microsoft Office programme
package includes Excel.
MICROSOFT LENS

Microsoft mobile services are a collection of exclusive mobile services designed especially
for mobile devices. They are normally made available through mobile browsers and
applications for Windows Phone, BREW, and Java platforms. While they are available in
various ways for other platforms, Microsoft's mobile services are often linked to a Microsoft
account and frequently preinstalled on the company's own mobile operating systems. With
the release of Windows CE in 1996, Microsoft began creating software for mobile computing
platforms. In April 2000, the company added the Pocket Office suite to its Handheld PC line
of PDAs. Microsoft bought some of the top apps listed in Google Play and the App Store
between December 2014 and June 2015, including Acompli, Sunrise Calendar, Datazen,
Wunderlist, Echo Notification Lockscreen, and MileIQ.
MICROSOFT ONENOTE

The note-taking programme Microsoft OneNote was created by Microsoft. It is accessible as

a component of the Microsoft Office suite and is now free on all other platforms as of 2014.
OneNote is made for multi-user collaboration and free-form information collection. It collects
user notes, sketches, screenshots, and audio annotations. OneNote users may also share notes
with one another over a network or the Internet. The official website, as well as the app stores
for Windows 10, MacOS, iOS, iPadOS, and Android, provide OneNote as a free standalone
app. Along with OneDrive and Office for the web, Microsoft also offers OneNote on the web.

MICROSOFT OUTLOOK
A personal information manager programme called Microsoft Outlook is included in the
Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 software packages. Outlook's primary use is as an email
client, but it also has other features including calendaring, task management, contact
management, note-taking, journal logging, and web browsing. Moreover, has grown to be a
well-liked email client for many companies.Outlook can be used by individuals as a stand-
alone application, and businesses can make use of it as multi-user software (through
Microsoft Exchange Server or SharePoint) for tasks including sharing mailboxes, calendars,
folders, and data aggregation (via SharePoint lists) and appointment scheduling. There are
additional Outlook smartphone apps available.

MICROSOFT PROJECT

Microsoft created and markets Microsoft Project, a solution for project management. It is
intended to help a project manager create a timetable, allocate resources to tasks, monitor
progress, control costs, and assess workloads. The third Microsoft Windows-based
programme from the corporation was called Microsoft Project. It quickly rose to prominence
and is now the industry standard for PC-based project management software. Although it
belongs to the Microsoft Office family, none of the Office suites have ever incorporated it.
There are now two editions available: Standard and Professional. The exclusive file extension
for Microsoft Project is.mpp.The core components of the Microsoft Office enterprise project
management (EPM) software are Microsoft Project and Microsoft Project Server.
Competitors of Microsoft

Among Microsoft Corporation's (MSFT) main rivals are some of the leading names in the
sector. Among other well-known companies, the list features Apple (AAPL), Google
(GOOG), SAP SE (SAP), IBM (IBM), and Oracle (ORCL). The fact that Microsoft is a
diversified firm with a wide range of goods and services means that it has fierce competition
in a number of important technology-related markets.

Microsoft core focus

Microsoft began by concentrating on software, and even though it has since expanded into
other industries, this is still where it places a lot of its effort. Microsoft faces direct
competition from some of the world's most prosperous software companies, including Oracle
and the German company SAP SE, for the lucrative business services sector. The most well-
known Microsoft product is perhaps the Windows operating system. Even while Windows
rules the world of operating systems, it faces competition from a number of smaller
companies who provide open-source operating systems like Linux, like Red Hat.

Other Microsoft Products

Microsoft is a significant player in the hardware industry as well. Among its offerings are
tablets meant to compete with comparable items produced by other firms, like Apple. The
business also produces a range of computer accessories, putting it in direct rivalry with a
number of businesses that focus on this market, such Logitech.Microsoft's Bing search engine
is a significant player in online search, despite the fact that Google's own search engine
dominates the market in the United States. In all facets of its business, Microsoft is subject to
competition. An assortment of large and small technology enterprises are exerting pressure.

Notable acquisition

Microsoft makes several acquisitions each year, like the majority of big businesses. Here are
a few noteworthy purchases.

Skype -  In 2011, Microsoft paid eBay $8.5 billion to acquire Skype, a VoIP-based video and
text chat service. Microsoft Teams is used for group chats, whereas Skype, which is now a
part of the Windows 11 operating system, is mostly used for one-on-one conversations.
Nokia -   Nokia was purchased by Microsoft in 2013 for $7.2 billion. Nokia was the biggest
sponsor of the Windows Phone operating system at the time, as Microsoft competed with
Apple and Android in the smart phone market. However, Windows Phone struggled to take
off, lost developers, and was eventually abandoned.

LinkedIn - Microsoft paid $26 billion in December 2016 to acquire the business-focused
social networking platform LinkedIn. The business recently revealed intentions to seamlessly
integrate LinkedIn with Microsoft Teams, its video conferencing programme.
Nuance Communication - Microsoft said in April 2021 that it would pay $16 billion to
acquire Nuance Communications, the industry's top supplier of Dragon NaturallySpeaking
speech recognition software.

Activision-Blizzard - Microsoft purchased Activision-Blizzard for $68 billion in January

2022 in an effort to strengthen its dominance in the gaming sector. Activision-Blizzard is the
publisher of popular game series including Call of Duty and Diablo.

Development Platform

The genesis of Microsoft lineage is in developer tools. Visual Basic was the first version,
followed by Visual C++ and finally Visual C#, which was created especially for the.Net
platform. Eventually, Visual Studio was created as a collection of all of these tools and their
supporting tools.

Microsoft introduced its.NET framework, a programming model that aided developers in

creating Windows apps, in 2002 as well. The Framework Class Library and Common
Language Runtime, which enable practically any language to compile down to an
intermediate language, respectively, are the two essential parts of the.NET platform..NET
was initially intended to be used primarily for Windows programming. However, Microsoft
broadened it to include non-Windows platforms, including Linux and mobile

There was platform fragmentation as a result of this. the original implementation, Net

announced in 2014 and included compatibility for Linux and Mac. Android phone Net

Microsoft declared its intent to merge in 2019.

XBOX

The company consists of five video sport consoles, as nicely as applications (games),
streaming services, an on line carrier through the name of Xbox network, and the
improvement arm via the title of Xbox Game Studios. The manufacturer used to be first
brought in the United States in November 2001, with the launch of the unique Xbox console.

The authentic device was once the first video game console offered by means of an American
enterprise after the Atari Jaguar stopped income in 1996. It reached over 24 million units sold
by May 2006.Microsoft's second console, the Xbox 360, was once released in 2005 and has
sold 86 million devices as of October 2021. The third console, the Xbox One, was once
launched in November 2013 and has bought 51 million units. The fourth line of Xbox
consoles, the Xbox Series X and Series S, were released in November 2020. The head of
Xbox is Phil Spencer, who succeeded former head Marc Whitten in late March 2014.

Xbox V/S PlayStation

Hardware and performance

Both the PS4 Slim and Xbox One S have remarkably slim designs that look fantastic under a
TV and easily slip into a backpack. While the newest PS4 loses an optical input for expensive
gaming headphones, it does have a slight advantage in terms of size. While Microsoft's Xbox
One X, which is even more powerful than the Pro, is strangely thinner than the Xbox One S,
Sony's 4K-capable PS4 Pro has a chunkier, hamburger-like shape. By connecting one of the
top external hard drives for PS4 and Xbox One, you can simply expand the 500GB of storage
that comes with both systems.
Owners of PS4 consoles may also open up their devices and instal a new 2.5-inch or SATA
disc. The PS4 and Xbox One have comparable specifications. They make use of a bespoke 8-
core x86-64 AMD Jaguar processor with 8GB of RAM, while an AMD Radeon GPU handles
graphics. The 500GB transitional spinning disc drive is used by both consoles.

Despite these specifications, the PS4 actually does a better job of dissipating electricity than
the Xbox One. The reason behind this is that Microsoft's gaming console needs some of its
resources to run the operating system, thus it has less horsepower to devote to games. As a
result, the PS4 can produce Full HD 1080p resolution in select games while the Xbox One
only manages 900p. Therefore, the PS4 has the advantage when it comes to presenting the
sharpest graphics from the previous generation.

But when contrasting the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, the situation is reversed. While Sony's
upgraded PS4 utilises chequerboard rendering to take lower resolution images and upscale
them to 4K rather than hitting native 4K, Microsoft's console typically targets a native 4K
output.

Entertainment

The best entertainment system is Xbox One. Your cable box's TV signal can be sent by the
system, giving you the flexibility to easily switch between playing games and watching
television. Only Microsoft's consoles can play 4K Blu-rays, however the Xbox One S, Xbox
One X, and PS4 Pro can all stream 4K video. The new Xbox One S All-Digital Edition,
however, is only capable of 4K streaming and lacks even a disc drive.

In contrast to the PS4, the Xbox One supports Dolby Atmos, enabling users of compatible
home theatre equipment to experience immersive spatial sound, and it soon will support
Dolby Vision for better HDR quality.
List of best-selling of Xbox 360 video games

This is a list of Xbox 360 video games that have shipped or sold a minimum of one million
copies. Kinect Adventures!, the Xbox 360 game that came with the Kinect peripheral and has

the Xbox 360 had been sold overall as of December 2009.

Kinect Adventures

The Xbox 360 video game Kinect Adventures! features sports. It was produced by Microsoft
Game Studios. It was created in 2010 by Good Science Studio, a division of Microsoft Game
Studios, and consists of five adventure and sports mini games. The game was bundled with
the system and makes use of the Kinect motion camera. The game, which debuted at the 2010
Electronic Entertainment Expo and eventually sold 24 million copies worldwide, is the Xbox
360's top seller. In Kinect Adventures!, the player can participate in a variety of minigames
with jump-in, jump-out multiplayer in all of them. About three minutes pass between each
minigame. Reflex Ridge is a competitive game even though the majority of the minigames
are cooperative in two player mode. Xbox Live multiplayer is also supported by the game.
The RGB camera on the Kinect would frequently snap pictures throughout the game which
were then exhibited to the player(s) and saved to a storage device.
GTA V

The 2013 action-adventure game Grand Theft Auto V was created by Rockstar North and
released by Rockstar Games. Following 2008's Grand Theft Auto IV, it is the series' seventh
primary instalment and its fifteenth overall. The single-player narrative centres on three
protagonists—retired bank robber Michael De Santa, street gangster Franklin Clinton, and
drug dealer and gunrunner Trevor Philips—as they attempt to pull off heists while being
pressured by a dishonest government agency and ruthless criminals. San Andreas is a
fictional state that is modelled after Southern California. Players can freely explore the broad
countryside of San Andreas and the made-up city of Los Santos, which is modelled after Los
Angeles, thanks to the open world concept.
MINECRAFT

The sandbox game Minecraft was created by Mojang Studios. Markus "Notch" Persson used
the Java programming language to construct the game. It was first made public in May 2009
after undergoing numerous early private testing iterations, and it was completely released in
November 2011 after Notch stepped down and Jens "Jeb" Bergensten took over development.
With over 238 million copies sold and around 140 million monthly active users as of 2021,

platforms. In Minecraft, players essentially explore a blocky, procedurally generated 3D

materials, craft equipment and items, and actually build structures, earthworks, and really
simple machines, which basically is quite significant. Depending on their chosen game mode,
players can fight adversarial mobs, as well as generally cooperate with or compete towards
other players in the generally equal world. Game modes include a very survival mode (in
which players ought to really accumulate sources to particularly construct in the world and
hold health) and a creative mode (where players basically have limitless sources and for all
intents and purposes get right of entry to to flight). There definitely is also a huge range of
user-generated content, basically such as modifications, servers, skins, texture packs, and
custom maps, which add new recreation mechanics and possibilities.

HALO CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

The Halo Championship Series is a expert esports series for Halo, hosted and geared up by
way of ESL (later modified to Esports Engine in 2020 and definitely is back to ESL once
definitely more in 2021 onwards) in affiliation with 343 Industries, or so they actually
thought. The HCS kind of was introduced in November 2014 following the launch of Master
really Chief Collection, using Halo 2: Anniversary as the performed version. During the first
two seasons, the HCS featured a couple of online cups and LAN activities for groups to really
earned HCS Points which determined the qualification for the Season Finale in a subtle way.

In 2016, HCS kind of has changed the gadget with the introduction of HCS Pro League,
HCS basically Open Circuit alongside moving to Halo 5: Guardians, or so they kind of
thought. The sequence then changed again in 2018 with the particularly removal of Pro
League and returning to a machine comparable to S1-2, also the final 12 months of the kind
of unique HCS, which essentially is fairly significant. From 2019 onwards HCS specifically
has launched the Grassroots application to aid creators and third-party tournaments in a
generally major way. In August 2021 the HCS mostly has been revived with the launch of
Halo particularly Infinite and the introduction of Cross-Play and Cross-Input for the first time
in the franchise, which is quite significant.

OpTic Gaming wins the majority of the $1,000,000 and the title of your 2022 Halo World
Champions as the first season of HCS for Halo Infinite comes to a thrilling finale. The Halo
World Championship has concluded.
Media planning process

Microsoft Xbox uses social media to advertise itself in a variety of ways. The Facebook page
includes exciting giveaways and deals, and the Twitter feed is bursting with gamer
accomplishments. No matter the social network you look at, Xbox is excellent at using it to
advertise their products.

Naturally, the release of the Xbox One's successor followed. Do you still recall that? The
excitement, staying up late looking for the finest live stream? Only you? Okay, I do recall
that! Like so many others, I was confused and, to be completely honest, horrified by what I
had seen. the absence of any knowledge.

I could use to support my position on the Xbox One vs. PS4 debate. The newly disclosed
material contradicted earlier claims. Like millions of others, I naturally turned to the Internet
for information, and the debut of the Xbox One quickly became the talk of the town.
Nevertheless, in a slightly critical tone.

XBOX ONE LAUNCH

We talked about what we would like to see and what might influence our purchasing
decisions on Xbox One. Facebook and Twitter quickly became awash with data that
Microsoft might exploit to win the battle. Although it's unclear whether this was always the
idea or whether it was just a bad launch, they still received what they required.

As a result,Microsoft has certainly played it well, whether it is through committed customer

service or by luring the general public into contributing vital information. demonstrating the
full potential of social media in achieving marketing objectives.

Microsoft Xbox gaming hardware sales revenue worldwide from 2012 to

Literature reviews CASE STUDY

Microsoft People Problems

Early in 1999, Microsoft Corp.'s top management began a thorough, organizational-wide
restructuring of the business. The company's president Steve Ballmer and the then-CEO and
chairman Bill Gates started the restructure. The main goal of the reorganisation was to
change the company's emphasis from being customer-oriented to being product-oriented.
This programme was known by Gates and Ballmer as V-2 (short for Vision 2), and they
claimed that the new organisational design was a component of Microsoft's "reinvention."
The business was restructured into various major divisions based on the target clientele it
served, including managers of information technology, knowledge workers, software
developers, and consumers.

Some commentators hypothesised that this programme was implemented as a result of the
anti-trust investigations launched against Microsoft the year before. The business wanted to
move ahead of the verdict because it feared that the court would order that Microsoft be
divided into two firms, one for Windows and the other for application software.

Some onlookers, though, believed there to be a greater purpose. They thought the
restructuring was done to address the dissatisfaction many Microsoft employees felt with the
rising bureaucracy within the corporation. Gates and Ballmer changed the organisation in an
effort to give staff more responsibility and reenergize the business. All decisions in the
original structure required Gates and Ballmer's approval. The goal of the new organisation
was to allow the top management more autonomy over the operation of their divisions. They
anticipated that by doing this, higher level managers would work in a setting that was both
difficult and personally fulfilling.

In the late 1990s, Microsoft, one of the biggest and, arguably, the most powerful companies
in the software sector, encountered an unusual issue. Its top executives left the corporation in
big numbers to retire or start their own businesses. The majority of these workers had worked
with the business for five to ten years and had been crucial to its expansion. The corporation
lost some of the aspects of the work culture that had made it so appealing to employees as it
grew in size and influence and instead became more bureaucratic. The employees were
compelled to leave the business and go out on their own as a result of this cultural
transformation and the era's internet growth. The restructuring programme also aimed to
change Microsoft's workplace culture and address some of the drawbacks of growth.
Conclusion

We began by providing a succinct overview of the development of operating systems and the
history of the personal computer sector. The operating systems market was then examined,
and the consequences of network-related effects on this industry were considered. The
indirect network effect is the main force in the OS market since the success of any specific
OS depends on the linked markets for systems hardware, peripherals, and applications
software. Finally, we used our framework to examine the market, specifically Apple and
Microsoft, and the practises that contributed to their success. We can learn from Microsoft
Windows and Apple MacOS that network effects may truly dominate an industry and that
businesses that are not set to take such effects into account may be in trouble. Microsoft made
the most of the installed base it already had from MS-DOS because it understood the
significance of network effects. The transition to Windows was manageable but not simple
due to switching expenses brought on by human factors including reluctance to adapt to a
new environment.

Suggestion

I found that the domain khoros-mail.com is used to send out automatic email notifications.

This community, in my opinion, was built on top of the khoros platform, thus it is to be
anticipated.
To have more privacy and confidence, I would advise developing a system that would allow
notification emails to be sent directly from the microsoft.com domain. Additionally, it is
more dependable and would make spam management simpler.
