A story about my small family

My name is Nur Amna binti Mohd Rahizam. I’m 15 and study in form 3 Addin. I want to tell about my
small family. I think I have a wonderful family. The family becomes the first school for children,
where they receive basic knowledge about culture, traditions and most importantly, the basic values
of life. The family plays a huge role in teaching good manners and habits. I really feel lucky to have
been born into such a family.

Our family consists of four members, they are mom, dad, me and my younger brother. Each of us
obeys our father, because he is the head of the family. We really respect him. He is a great man
because he has engaged in various good deeds. He always thinks about our health and makes the
right decisions regarding family members. His decision becomes final in all matters of the family. He
sits in the front chair at the dining table. He always helps us do our homework because he is a
teacher. He teaches us about the tools of success in life, such as discipline, punctuality, cleanliness,
morality, hard work, and continuity. My father is a teacher at school and is very disciplined. He is
very punctual, sincere and hardworking by nature.

My mom Una is also a teacher. She is a sweet and very simple woman. She takes care of every family
member and makes us happy. She pays special attention to her children, and always helps the poor
and needy people in society. We have always learned from childhood to love and respect elders and
help people in need. My sweet little family is truly full of love, care, peace, prosperity and discipline.

My younger brother Abid is 12 years old. He looks like mom. Abid is strong, smart and talented. He
can run and swim. He study in standard 6 and he is very fond of playing online games against his
school friends. But that only during his spare of time because mom always makes sure that he does
not sit at the computer for a long time.

We also have a pet in our family, a small cat, it also member of our family. I really love my family. We
always help each other. Every member of my family is my best friend.

My family and I sometimes play word puzzle and love badminton and cycling for sports. Other than
that, we love travelling. We travel to experience the culture of other states and discover foods that
we never tried before.
I think nowadays parents don’t spend enough time for their children because dilemma faced by
parents in Malaysia today is how to balance working time with time to educate children which
becomes increasingly difficult when their employers demand that they return late to finish work.
What's more, a small number of parents lack knowledge and skills in educating their children and
this needs a solution. The reality is that parents are so busy with their respective careers and don’t
have time for children causing thousands of children in the city to be left with foreign maids,
babysitters and a small part with relatives. They are vulnerable to the influence and thinking of their
guardians. Children coming home from school find themselves in empty houses because both
parents work. There is no one at home to give love, guide and apply pure family values. They instead
seek guidance and are influenced by peers. With bad influence from peers, there is an atmosphere
that will lead them to various diseases and social problems. Children who grow up in such an
environment will eventually become victims of various social problems such as violence in schools,
drug addiction and even involvement in crime. Parents must be willing to spend time with their
children. Children need the love of parents and without it their lives will be ruined because they do
not understand or appreciate the love and value of family in their later lives. Parents must be more
sensitive to the quality of family bonds and always take steps to inculcate basic moral values in their
children that are necessary to develop a strong foundation to a stable and strong society.
