ROTC ADVOCACY

I firmly believe that the ROTC program is created to lay a strong foundation for fostering
patriotism and nationalism in young people so they can grow up to be productive members of
society who have the abilities, knowledge, and moral fiber to uphold and defend the nation's
national institutions and sovereignty. The emotion of love, devotion, and sense of attachment
to one's country, as well as solidarity with other people who feel the same way, is known as
patriotism or national pride. A nation's interests are promoted by nationalism, an ideology and
movement, especially with the goal of establishing and preserving the nation's sovereignty
(self-governance) over its native territory. These are some of the most significant advantages
you will gain or further develop by involving yourself in ROTC.

By introducing the ROTC program to youth, it hopes to instill in a sense of purpose, discipline,
and respect for the law and the government, as well as compliance to rules and regulations,
while the students are still young. Indeed, being actively involved in ROTC fosters a sense of
discipline and patriotism as well as a willingness to fulfill the ultimate task of defending the
Philippines against foreign attack, given that everyone has a responsibility to protect the State.

The Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program is one (1) of the components National
Service Training Program (NSTP) for which all freshmen students should undertake to finish
their Baccalaureate degree courses. The ROTC as a military science components of the NSTP is
an educational program which combines practical and unmatched leadership training. This
program designed to produce quality commissioned officers in the Armed Forces of the
Philippines. These Military science courses are designed to prepare criminology students to
develop their leadership, discipline and community awareness in response to the disaster risk
reduction program of the community. With the ROTC program helps the criminology students
to succeed in their chosen field in the college and be one of the aspiring Police Officers of the
Philippine National Police (PNP) and in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

In neighboring ASEAN Countries has two (2) years mandatory or compulsory Military training
while in the Philippines ROTC was in college under the umbrella of the nationa Service Training
Program (NSTP) as prerequisite requirements in finishing their degree program, which is
typically a requirement of all college students, especially military related course both in private
and public Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s) . Under the NSTP subject the ROTC program is
designed for one (1) year program which prepares young men and women to enter in military
or police service as officer or enlisted personnel. This goal is believed to be best served by
instructing the students in numerous ways. While each year in the Army ROTC program has a
similarities as the years to come each year of ROTC program designed to develop these ROTC
cadets in its own unique way. Military development comprised of two components classroom
instruction and physical training session.

Bringing the ROTC program to senior high school is a great proposal that President Duterte has
floated since taking office. Young Filipinos will undoubtedly benefit from ROTC. They will learn
patriotism from ROTC, without a doubt. They will develop a strong love for our nation as a
result. They will become disciplined and respectful as a result of it. "The ROTC program in our
educational system is an excellent approach to instill and cultivate love of country," declared
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana. I firmly believe that ROTC can impart leadership skills,
discipline, respect for authority, and a commitment to duty to our young people, and that doing
so will better position them to take on issues that are greater than themselves.
