Entrepreneurs and Social Entrepreneurship

1. Define entrepreneur and entrepreneurship.

 Entrepreneur is the person engaged in business or in any entrepreneurial activity.


He/she performs tasks such Planning, Directing, Organizing, and Controlling.
These are the basic tasks an entrepreneur does.
 While entrepreneurship is the activity or the nature of any business venture he
undertakes. It could be a skill-related endeavors or a professional practitioners.
 Entrepreneur is somebody who organizes, manages and assumes the risks of a
business/enterprise or community business. Defines an entrepreneur as one who
bears uncertainty, buys labor and materials, and sells products at uncertain prices.
He is one who takes risks and makes innovations on the factors of production.
 Entrepreneurship is an act of being an entrepreneur, or “the owner or manager of
a business enterprise who, by risk and initiative, attempts to make profits”.
Entrepreneurs act as managers and oversee the launch and growth of an
enterprise. Peter Druckers (1986) states that entrepreneurship is a result-oriented
attitude. An entrepreneur must have strong values to accomplish what society
needs and that the value driven innovator who enhances society should be as
equally important as the entrepreneur who enhances economic growth.

2. Enumerate and explain briefly each of the steps in enterprise creation and development.

 Problem Identification Giving shelter to those persons or in the community


which needs to have an opportunity to have
work or something we can give or to offer just to
help them in just a simple identification of
problems.

 Community Mobilization An attempt to bring both human and non-human


resources together to undertake
developmental acti- vities in order to
achieve sustainable development.

 Community Action Action within the community its decisions on


responsibilities it is organized and
implemented. Every procedure, roles,
decisions, practices, and any actions it
should be organized and under control.

 Community Reflection its outcomes or feedback of the decisions are


evaluated of the stakeholders and it is
concerning to the future direction.

3. State Republic Act 6977

 6977 an act to promote, develop and assist small and medium scale enterprises
through the creation of a small and medium enterprises development council, and the
rational of government assistance programs and agencies concerned with the
development of small and medium enterprises, and for other purposes.

4. List down and explain each of the management principles in managing a small business.

 Planning - a planning for the business its road map or function that provides
directions so a business can plan its future or looks for the business future. Or
determining a course of action for achieving those objectives.

 Organizing – is the second key management function, after planning, which


coordinates human efforts, arranges resources and incorporates the two in such a way
which helps in the achievement of objectives. It involves deciding the ways and
means with which the plans can be implemented. This also involves assigning tasks,
grouping tasks into departments, delegating authority, and allocating resources across
the organization.

 Directing – is the process of providing focus for employees and motivating them to
achieve organizational goals. Controlling involves comparing actual to expected
performance and taking corrective action when necessary.

 Controlling – involves ensuring that performance does not deviate from standards. Or
to ensure that the business where can stay on top and goals of the organization are
achieved in a desired manner.

 Staffing – is the function of employee recruitment, screening and selection performed


within an organization or business to fill job openings. Or ensuring the good and
efficient relationships to the staffs or costumers.
5. Enumerate the grass-roots fundraising ideas.
