WakeMeUp: A mobile-based application to alert commuters and tourists when they

reach their destination

Objective of the Study

This research aims to develop a mobile application called Wake Me Up

that will provide a convenient and efficient solution for people who need to be reminded

when they are near their destination while using public transportation. Specifically, this

will:

1. Identify the existing problem of commuters and tourists missing their stop or

getting lost while commuting.

2. Classify the benefits of using the app on public travel or commuting as follows:

2.1 Convenience: The application helps users save time by reminding them

when they have reached their destination, especially if they are unfamiliar

with the area.

2.2 Safety: People who are traveling to unfamiliar locations may feel lost or

disoriented, but with Wake Me Up, they are alerted when they are getting

close to their destination, reducing the chances of getting lost.

2.3 Hands-free operation: Since the application is integrated with GPS, users do

not have to manually monitor their journey.

2.4 Customizable: The application allows users to customize their alert settings

to choose how far they want to be from their destination when they receive

the alert.
3. Formulate a system design that will aid in the implementation of the proposed

mobile application. (WakeMeUp: A mobile-based application to alert commuters

and tourists when they reach their destination)

4. Produce a mobile application for WakeMeUp.

5. Implement and test the developed mobile application.
