The objectives are for students to distinguish between complete subjects and predicates, identify them in sentences, and construct their own sentences using them. The lesson plan outlines motivational activities, a presentation, discussion, and application activities to help students understand the topic. Students will practice identifying complete subjects and predicates in sample sentences and construct their own as an assessment of their understanding.

3. Review
Before we start with our
new lesson, let us have a
recap on what you
discussed last meeting.

So what was the lesson that The lesson we have discussed

we have learned last last meeting is about subject

Very good! It was all about The subject is the one that is

predicate?

You are all excellent! It

seems that you are now
ready to move into our next
lesson.
B. DEVELOPMENTAL
ACTIVITIES
1. Motivation
Before we start with our
lesson for today, let us have
first an activity for you to
have an idea on what we
will be going to learn this
morning.
Yes sir!
I will divide the class into
two and each group are
given two boxes containing
pieces of papers with
phrases which you are going
to connect (note: 1 piece of
paper from box 1 will be
connected from another 1
piece of paper from box 2).
You are given 5 minutes to
connect and make
sentences as many as you
can. Did you understand
class? (students will do the activity
for 5 minutes)
So, are you ready? Timer
starts now!

(After 5 minutes) Yes sir!

Were you able to come up

with meaningful sentences?

Excellent! In this activity,

the series of sentences that
you made consists of two
parts. It is the subject and
the predicate.

2. Presentation

You already know about

subject and predicate as we
have tackled on this last Yes sir!
meeting.

Are you ready to further

widen your knowledge about
this topic?
Let us proceed then.

3. Discussion

In our discussion last

meeting, we tackled on
subject and predicate. But
to be specific, what we have
discussed are examples of
simple subjects and simple
predicate.

Simple subjects and simple

predicates are those without
modifiers or qualifiers.

But if a subject has words

related to it, as well as
modifiers or qualifiers, then
it is a COMPLETE
SUBJECT. Same is true as
predicates; there is also a
COMPLETE PREDICATE.

Let us take a look on the

examples given on page 43
in your book and let us
identify its simple and
complete subjects and (The student will read the
predicates. sentence)

Sentence 1: The simple subject in the

with our grandparents. “brother”, sir.

Relating to what we have

discussed earlier, what do The simple predicate in the

subject in the sentence?

Very good! How about the

simple predicate?

Very good! Now, we will be

identifying its complete
subject and complete
predicate.

To identify the complete

subject, we need to add the
words, modifiers and
qualifiers which are related
to the simple subject and
this is the phrase “my
youngest” which makes the
phrase “My youngest
brother” as the complete
subject in the sentence.

While in complete predicate,

it is identified by adding the
words, modifiers and
qualifiers which are related
to the simple predicate and
this is the phrase “with our
grandparents” that makes
the phrase “lives with our
grandparents” the complete
predicate in the sentence. (the student will identify the

Again, what is the complete

subject and complete
predicate of this example?

Before you construct your

own sentence using
complete subject and
complete predicate, let us
have a game again like what
we did a while back but
now, you will be identifying Yes sir. (students` examples

given 3 minutes for this
activity. Are you ready? None, sir.
(After 5 minutes)

Can you construct your own

sentence and identify its
complete subject and
complete predicate?

Do you have any questions,

class?

Very good everyone! You

really understood our lesson
for today.

C. POST DEVELOPMENTAL
ACTIVITIES

complete subject from a
complete predicate.
